she has fallen in love with someone (love has blinded her, thats what "in the dark" means) and shes going through a period of uncertainty as to whether or not the other person loves her back and then she realizes the other person does love her back (has been struck blind, is in the dark too) she feels twilight as that place of uncertainty of not knowing at first . she regains some perspective accepting that unrequited love is the situation and she starts to heal until that moment she realizes the other person loves her back so she decides to "stay in the dark" ie stay blinded by love

This song has always hit home, it reminds me of a toxic relationship that I did not want to end because I loved them and thought they could change. In the end, no matter how much they wanted to change, they wouldn’t and I had let myself for so long be in the darkness with them until I realized holding onto toxic relationships is what keeps us from growing. This song reminds me of this.

I've gone exactly through this and this song reminds me of that too. This pain, this dark... I've tried for 9 years and failed, failed miserably, like all the women that try to change men or make them more mature. The final blow was when he told me he had a crush on a workmate of his, started texting her and hiding his phone from me. Among other things.... This song is an ode to my defeat love Florence 💓

well, while you are probably right. I think I'm one of those thinking of other weird shit. While the main theme is about a dear person that is no longer there. I relate it with someone that died. A falling star that after giving you so much light, was now abruptly gone. The darkness is the emptiness of the void left by this person that is no longer by any means with her. And becoming the darkness is the state of denial. The sad part is that, even after realizing that she can crawl back from that dark place, she knows that the person is there, in the emptiness of death... by remembering and not letting that person go, she prefers to stay there. A wound that wont heal, because if it heals, it means that this gone person will stay behind in the darkness alone. :( I lost someone dear. This song hurts.
