FFXV was beautiful in the way it depicted not only friendship but that destiny can be cruel and there's sometimes never enough time to do everything or express everything. Noctis had a huge burden on his shoulders. I also loved that so much of the big events took place off-screen, and you saw the characters reactions to it. To me, that was realistic and what I enjoyed about it.

I just love FFXV, it's now my fav FF but I can't say that it's very constructive for naration having so much things off screen.. Many things in the game were not always written well. But My God, the friendship ! For me the best friendship of all the FF and the best villain. Ardyn is so good as a character.

@@lunarya2855 Actually I do think Noctis comes across as bratty which is what makes him such a good character and so relatable. Here's this kid (20 is still emotionally young) who his whole life has been told "You're the chosen one, you have a grand responsibility to the world and must save everyone to fulfill the prophecy" WITH ZERO SAY in the matter. Of course he would be rebellious and gripe all the time! Who wouldn't!? All he wants is to have a dad, see his fiance (wink, wink), and chill with his bros like any sane, normal person. But instead he loses his home, father, fiance, sleeps outside, has to fight an empire, and purge the darkness without knowing what that even means. It's a great, tragic twist on the classic coming of age story about growing up and accepting difficult responsibilities in life. It wouldn't have hit as hard as it did had Noctis NOT throw a bunch of tantrums about all the loss and hardship he endured. :')

IMO SE wasted a hell of a lot of potential in these characters and plot. I've been playing FF games since I was a wee one with the American release of FF2 [actually 4] and played every single one after. I played FFXI for years [literally, in accumulated game time, sadly?] and FFXIV as well for a long time. I'm old enough to appreciate the olds, but also enough to see the drastic change. FFXV _tried_ to depict a deeper plot, but in comparison it just... didn't add up to what it _could've_ been in to the older installments. Ultimately I found the characters to not even be _remotely_ flushed out as to what could have been. That being said; I cannot knock SE for splurging on Flo as at the very least the soundtrack was phenominal.

I have way too many feelings about this song. It makes you understand that no, Noctis is not a spoiled brat, he just can't do anything about his destiny. He knows what awaits him that's why the time he spent travelling with this friends was precious to him but also knew that it was only a mere delay of his duties. He fucking technically lived 20 years and like what 2 days. The outro was just so beautiful and majestic. I think we love the game for completely different reasons. I think Noctis is a spoilt brat, at the start he is completely oblivious to the fate what awaits him and why his Dad is acting unusual. The story takes such a U turn at the start you are tricked into thinking you are going in a rich fancy car to a wedding with a beautiful bride with a bunch of body guards but things continue to get out of hand and only by the end of the game does Noctis understand what awaits him, such character growth / sense of journey is rare in games. It mirrors real life in a sense how we do things we might be really reluctant to do such as Education but by the end you realise how much the people around you matter, that feeling/sense of loss when the journey is finally ending is something that FFXV captures amazingly on an epic scale.

Greensky02 I agree I sat there in front of my TV staring screaming that they told me , at least in my mind what's to come. rumor is that there are 7 expansions 3 of them you get to play the Bros and they are all trying to bring noctis back. I would be happy with that after 100 hours of game play I have grown emotionally attached to my character he can't just be dead, gone for good you know. It's astonishing that they had a song this amazing in the wings and it doesn't play at all during the endgame. You have to discover it by accident in the credits option in the menu. What a wasted opportunity! Simultaneously uplifting and devastating. This is up there with the use of "My Hands" in FFXIII, or the ending theme of FFX, in terms of just utterly destroying the listener with an emotional response. This right here is why FF games are in a class apart from other video RPG's / adventure games. Masterful!
