why is it advertised as a florida product but it's made overseas?
@rocknut885 жыл бұрын
Just the same as domestic cars that are manufactured in mexico... headquarters is based in Tampa but manufactured overseas to provide a more affordable product. If it were made in America we would be looking at a $300-400 reel.

No these reels are fantastic, I used them on a guided shark and red fish trip in south carolina and the truly shined very well. Handled a 4 1/2 foot black tip shark with ease

Good review, what is the main body on the Florida fishing reel made of? Is it aluminum or is it graphite?

I'm curious to know how it holds up to fishing pressure. Have you had a chance to catch any reds or snook with it?
@Saltstrong7 жыл бұрын
After loading line onto this Florida Fishing Products reel, I tied it off to a scale and measured the force I was able to apply to the line before the drag let out. It got all the way up to 22 lbs when the line broke, so it's max drag is a minimum of 22 lbs. Only had one chance to get it out on the water. Held up well to some big jacks so I'm sure it'll do just fine with any sized snook or redfish.

Flats class uses them now. They seem decent as long as they stand behind them if there is an issue.

Luke, the new 2500 version of this reel is about the same price as the Stradic FK on Ebay at $159.99. If the price was the same which reel would you select, the Stradic FK or the Osprey?

Not sure how they can charge 180? Penns cheaper and the customer already knows it's a great reel!
@Saltstrong7 жыл бұрын
Penn has many reels ranging from low prices to multiple hundreds of dollars for a similar sized reel. Their Clash 3000 model is priced the same as this Florida Fishing Products reel and surely would have been a great one to have used in this comparison analysis but I only had the Battle II on hand. Tight Lines!
@rocknut885 жыл бұрын
I own both the osprey 3000 and the battle 2, here is my opinion take how ever you may like, the osprey better drag, better line capacity, smoother internals, same weight. Battle two is a well performing reel for its price point but I'd be concerned if I was fishing inshore for big reds, black drum, sharks etc... I dont think the drag has enough range but still a great reel for smaller species particularly specks flounder or stripers. So it comes down to 2 things what are you fishing for and what is your budget.

you should have used a Battle II 3000 to make it fair, and actually test the drag... the 2500 is rated much less in drag and line capacity

The featured reel in this video is from Florida Fishing Products. A shimano was shown for some comparison discussion.

Do you know if they are manufactured in Florida? If so, a video tour of their plant and assembly line would be cool. Do they use machined or cast gears? Is the handle user serviceable?
