The black drink was from a yaupon tree and had caffeine…. Much like our coffee or tea today. It was used by the natives and the Spaniards who settled in Florida for quite a while. You can grow the tree if you in Florida in coastal areas or buy it online. Very interesting stuff!

Very interesting.! However , it's sad to think about what was done to indigenous people and their cultures not only in Florida but around the world.

Are there any museums in Central Florida that show these artifacts and information on the oldest ancient people who lived there?

Very interesting! However the repeated use of “indians” to describe the indigenous people was off-putting.
