Handing out felony records doesn't help anyone, it just puts more pressure on the system with even more unemployable, welfare bound felons. Instead of handing out more felonies stop letting criminals out bond free and jail free after a day or two. We have plenty of laws already, they just aren't being followed. This felony thing isn't gonna address the flawed system that isn't being managed correctly. It'll just put more pressure on the tax-payers

It’s the principle, not the amount of money. it should be less than $40, maybe no jail time but at least $1000 fine that goes to the one from which the item was stolen. If they don’t have the the thousand dollars to pay the fine then they need to be forced to work for the city until that is paid up. Picking up trash and cleaning gutters things like that. There are other ways to get the money.
