Hello Barry, it’s Kevin, tell Max hello for me, my dad dropped homeowners insurance years ago because of the yearly increases. It’s been on the news. A lot of people don’t have home insurance because it’s just too expensive. Yes that’s definitely crazy. Keep warm. It’s been so cold down here in Florida thank God for space heaters.
@ThemeParkBazza14 сағат бұрын
It has been a long chilly spell for us, hopefully warms up soon

Thank you for being so open about this insurance problem in Florida. Honestly, we’ve been tossing around buying a condo in South Florida and this is making us reconsider. I hope soon we can all find relief from exorbitant expenses.
@ThemeParkBazza6 сағат бұрын
As I mentioned I am told it’s even more expensive in South Florida

I know it seems a lot of money for insurance but always worth it, our friends here in the UK got flooded 2 weeks ago. They had over three feet of water in their house, they have lost one of their cars and the whole of the downstairs of their house and will be out of the house for about 9 months. Thankfully their insurance company are paying for a rental property and all the repairs. I did have to smile obvious you two are brits, you were the only people walking throughout your whole vlog on a gorgeous day if that was here you would have passed dozens of people out walking.
@ThemeParkBazza14 сағат бұрын
Well as I mentioned , the insurance here does not cover flooding. You have to take out a whole other policy on top of your main insurance to cover that
@jamesschumaker12 сағат бұрын
Thanks for sharing your Florida homeowners insurance journey! Sure, it’s like living in a flood zone lottery, but hey, it’s still cheaper than a vacation or a cruise-and you get to live in paradise full-time! 🏝🐊 As always, looking forward to next week’s dose of fun!

I agree it’s paradise and I am certainly not complaining about the weather

Ours is about $2,100 here in central Illinois. I won’t be surprised if it goes up too, tho! And then taxes, it’s hard to keep up as retired people!

Crazy that Baz. Which road you walking on here, with the lake and big houses, looks a nice walk? Allstate is now ‘NotAllstate’. But life could be worse, it’s raining and cold here. I find these cost of living/ retirement videos interesting. Glad you got the cost down. It will be an anxious time next renewal I imagine.

True things could always be worse. lol “Notallstate”

Hi Barry, we live in St. Cloud in a 2022 new build worth about the same 500K to replace and we paid $1800 last November for Home insurance through State Farm. They told us if we buy their home insurance they can cut our car insurance for our two vehicles. We have a 2021 Pacifica and a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and pay $205 per month for both of them, we took off uninsured driver and it dropped a LOT! We had to take some risk as it was getting crazy. We used Tower Hill insurance when we got the house but State Farm was about $75 more expensive but we got the car discounts which saved us about $500 a year. Our broker is Sharon Testoni at Longwood branch State Farm a lovely English girl who has dealt with us since we arrived in 2022. Thanks for the great advice and your hard work!
@ThemeParkBazza12 сағат бұрын
I tried State Farm but they are not underwriting any new policies in Florida. I did go with them for car insurance and they were cheaper. I also removed uninsured motorist

I’m dreading my renewal. It went up 35% last year. I’m hoping it won’t go too high as we haven’t made a claim. Our house is 4 years old so maybe we will get lucky? lol . Glad you got yours sorted. We tried to bundle home and car insurance, and it made no difference. I ended up taking my car off comprehensive and just have liability insurance (it sits on the drive and only gets moved 1-2 times per month) we drive my husbands van mostly.
@ThemeParkBazza14 сағат бұрын
Hopefully yours won’t be too bad, we were very lucky

Same issue here in Illinois with insurance. Just moved from progressive to GEICO and saved $550 for our cars. Homeowners went up $400. Crazy.
@ThemeParkBazza6 сағат бұрын

@alanleafy10 сағат бұрын
A few years back, we here in the UK had a similar thing in the insurance company forcing us to offload by taking our house insurance from £500 to £1400 with no claim. So although lower than your cost a big % increase
@ThemeParkBazza10 сағат бұрын
So it does seem to be a deliberate strategy
@donaldlamaster378912 сағат бұрын
Sorry for all the stress you both had to go through. It's been 9 years since we left Fl. It was expensive for us back then, but it sounds crazy now. Georgia is more reasonable, but still crazy in my opinion. Can't wait to see your next renovation.
@ThemeParkBazza10 сағат бұрын
If it’s gets a lot worse we may head up that way or the Carolinas
@lynnnovick88912 сағат бұрын
The trouble is, they won’t pay out when you have a claim.
@ThemeParkBazza12 сағат бұрын
I think that’s true for all insurance companies
@ellcor10 сағат бұрын
You're not alone. My car insurance in UK went up from £350 to £1050. Never had a claim!
@ThemeParkBazza10 сағат бұрын
Wow, do you think it’s a similar strategy to offload customers
@statesidestan14 сағат бұрын
Hi we were insured with Olympus when we live there. Everything was good until we had the roof damage with a hurricane. They said we had to pay 30% excess on the roof because of hurricane damage. If if was a hail or storm damage it was 10% excess . Our renewal was $6,000 . They blamed the cost of claims in 34758 zip code. That’s another reason we moved back . Car insurance and health insurance were crazy too .
@ThemeParkBazza14 сағат бұрын
Where did you move back too ?
@andystreet147910 сағат бұрын

Very interesting vlog Bazza, thank you. Our house insurance and car insurance renewals have just come in and we quibbled over a few hundred pounds, not thousands! Do the US not have compare the market websites like we do for our insurance over here? Looks like we’re going to need all of the £56m lottery win tonight to get a house in Orlando 😳 Have a good weekend both

My insurance is very high because I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Biloxi Bay is less than 1/4 down the road from the house so getting flood insurance is no picnic. I do save on fire insurance because I live right next door to a fire station

If your original home price is at a lower price then homes selling in your area presently, never ever have your home appraised if your not selling. It will trigger many things, including insurance price. Especially if you make an insurance claim.

@ThemeParkBazza10 сағат бұрын
No they just sell your info to about 50 insurance companies who all call you at once
@trevorclark414016 сағат бұрын
In all fairness you do live in the path of a hurricane 💨💨
@ThemeParkBazza14 сағат бұрын
That is true so I did expect double the paid from Virginia when we moved here. Also all homes have to be built hurricane resistant which is not the same as other states
@trevorclark414013 сағат бұрын
