On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday. The two discuss the latest after the Panthers clinch the Stanley Cup by taking the Cup to east Broward to the beach and celebrating at the Elbo room. The city of Fort Lauderdale announced when the Panthers will conduct their championship parade. The two discuss more of the impact of viewership with the new fans and how it'll create interest in not only the Panthers, but the education that's going to come with watching the game more and becoming familiar with the players around the league, along with international competitions coming back to the mix in the next two years. The two also discuss what Vinnie Viola and Sam Bennett will do with their days with the cup. Although the Panthers have many stars on their roster, the fact that it was not one person taking control of the series and every player picked and chose their spots, makes it an even bigger story on how the structure can continue on even with free agency less than a week away. Was hoping for a boat parade down the Intracoastal waterway, similar to the first Marlin's championship parade route. A flotilla of boats sailing from northern Broward County down to Dade. Fans along the seawalls on both sides of the route. Banners draped from above on the multitude of bridges along the route. That parade was accessible to many fans and the video of that celebration is awesome.

yeah I'm still riding the high from last night. Didn't really sleep much last night. Will get a bit more sleep tonight but still not a great amount lol. And to Jacob's point, I've been saying that although I became a Panthers fan during last year's run and you could probably call me a bandwagon fan right now, I ain't going anywhere. Even when the inevitable down times return (hopefully not quite as down as it has been at certain points in Panthers history though)

I've always found it easy to stick by teams when they're struggling as long as they themselves still care and are working on a plan to get better. Even if it takes a decade it doesn't matter to me. However, if a team is terrible because the owners, management or players don't care or if they have hidden motivations, then I'm fine with people jumping off the bandwagon. The Oilers for the last twenty years or so we're a good example of that. They hyper focused on nostalgia, upholding the "old boys club" and on rushing the development of draft picks (to their detriment). This lead to a dismal on ice product which they stuck by for nearly two decades. I jumped off that ship. Ironically, I became a Panthers fan after that, so imagine my glee watching the Cats lay the Deadmonton Oilers to rest this past Monday night.

For the Panthers there is before game 7 and after game 7. The Panthers organization will never be the same again. For the better. If game 7 had been lost it would’ve been the exact opposite of what will now happen to this team. It would have been a disaster. Thank God they won!

I'd be interested in hearing your top 3 Stars for this season. Mine would be Barkov, Bob and Forsling. I think it was the shift in playing style to a more defensive minded team this season which helped to finally put them over the top. There are strong arguments to be made for other stand out stars like Reinhart & Tkachuk, but the 3 players I listed seemed to most embody that defensive mindset with their on ice work.
