Brightline train service currently serves Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach, with its Orlando station beginning service in 2023. This tour was recorded at their Basecamp maintenance facility in Orlando.

What I cant quite get is that, if they do hourly service each way, how are they doing this with one track? On routes that have one or two trains a day, I get. I take two different trains to Vermont a couple of times a year. Wouldnt it have made sense to build two tracks?

3h to do Miami-Orlando, honestly that's long, why they didn’t build an high speed lane and also why the lane is not electrified? In other parts of the world you can do 600 miles in that amount of time!

The answer is simple. Money. Grade separation and electrification would've cost billions and Brightline probably wouldn't have attempted it in the first place without huge government subsidy. Ask FL how that worked out for them circa 2010/11. Also, the speed of the journey isn't always most important, it's about the comfort and convenience. Brightline is popular as we speak not because of the blazing top speed of 79 MPH they offer between West Palm Beach and Miami - it's the comfort, reliability and relaxation one gets from taking the train instead of driving along the usually backed up Interstate 95. The train will do the ~3H journey rush hour or not, rain or shine. That's what's important.

You have to start somewhere, perhaps electrified will be in the future. For me personally, I’m glad that Brightline is coming Orlando to Miami, etc., I hate driving the toll roads, some people don’t mind, but there’s all the bad drivers such as they don’t signal, drive after drinking alcohol, just playing bad, driving, etc. I’d rather relax and take the train and possibly work on the computer or just relax to read or watch a movie and then I arrive relaxed not stressed. :)
