Guys, don’t beat yourself up. As a Georgia Tech alum I totally bought into the FSU off season hype and I had FSU by 14 plus points and rightfully so, given all the 4 and 5 stars lined up against GT's 2 and 3 stars. I am so proud of the Tech players and coaches punching a better team (on paper) in the mouth. We have had such a rough 5 years and this win made my football year. That being said, Joe is right. GT is at best a top 30 team, the defense is not there yet. We are not a playoff team this year, and probably not next year either but we are heading in the right direction. GO JACKETS. TO HELL ITH GEORGIA!

Don’t think that FSU is super talented. They’re probably 20th in 4-5 star recruits, bluechip ratio. Most of FSU o line are 3 stars recruit from the Taggert era. FSU didn’t do well in recruiting in 2018-2022 or so. This line has experience under Norvell system but have had their issues last year. As far as talent UM and Clemson are a lot higher then FSU

They didn't almost beat Georgia. They cut the lead from 15 to 8 with about 4 minutes left, and Georgia ran the clock out. Brent Key has done a good job, especially given what he inherited, so you don't need to oversell it.

@@jamesr123 Wanna guess how many other teams cut a lead against Georgia to just 8 points last year? Because it was 1, Alabama beating them. Mizzou was next closest at 9, and the other ranked SEC teams they played lost by an average of 26 points. Georgia wasn't benched in the fourth. Their last score Beck was on the field. Georgia was an unbelievably good team last year, and GaTech cutting it to 8 was beyond impressive considering where everyone believed them to be at.

FSU tried to stop the run with a light 6 man box and 2 high safties. GT played 8 man box all game after the first drive. FSU refused to come out that 2 high look. they let a run first team RUN FIRST. you make them beat you passing.

🎯 Nailed it! We were very good at 2nd half adjustments last year cuz we were down at the half in 6 games last year and came back and beat them in the 2nd half. Coach Fuller should've done exactly what GT was doing to us on defense knowing we wanted to run the ball and still stayed in that 4-2 defense. GT stacked the box pretty much all game with a ton of blitzing daring DJU to throw on them and it absolutely worked. Why Fuller never made that adjustment I'll never know cuz everyone knows GT wants to run the ball. Makes no sense but at the end of the day games are won upfront and GT bullied a very good D line and that was hard to watch. Tackling was the one thing that was the hardest to watch, it was horrendous to say the least. BC is going to do a lot of the same things that GT did to us with an even faster QB so we better tighten up or it's going to be a looong season for sure! I could go on and on about why we lost but I'll just say this to conclude it, Norvell's play calling was so vanilla until the 4th quarter when we finally attacked the middle of the field and then we had 2 huge throws down the middle to setup the TD. Not sure he firmly believes in DJU yet but if you're not going to open up the playbook completely then why did you bring him here? He is not J Trav and that was painfully obvious to see, he's just much slower but I really felt like Norvell was coaching not to lose and not coaching to win, felt the same way about DJU to. He just played with no effort at all! GT wanted it more and it showed 100% by just their effort alone. This is not the 2023 team obviously but I do have a ton of confidence in Norvell and he'll get this team right but the question is how long will that take cuz now we have no room for error especially in the ACC. I said we'd go 10-2 but now I'm thinking 9-3, it sucks but we just looked sloppy and it wasn't cuz it was the first game. We got OUTPLAYED, OUTCOACHED and bullied in the Trenches and that's exactly why we lost period!! 🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ With all that said I truly believe GT will be in the discussion for the ACC Championship game this season. I think they're going to shock some teams and beat some teams that they shouldn't starting with us, just watch! I said last year if GT's defense could get better to match their offense then look out cuz they will be a tough team to beat and now they just got a huge boost of confidence to start the season so you never know, my hats off to them though! They absolutely deserved that win period! 💯🫡

As a GT alum, I knew that 10.5 pts was way too much. When it opened at 14, I thought it was crazy. I thought that it should be about 3 pts point spread. Tech ended last season on a roll. Football is played in the trenches and I had confidence in the o line of GT. What I didn’t know about was the changes to the d line. Man, that defense was much better in this game. GT is not a dominant defense, but we’re maybe a mid level defense which is a massive upgrade from last season. DJU is not the reason why fsu lost. FSU got beat in the trenches. The OC not calling a few more downfield throws to loosen things up.

Getting to the end of the video thinking about GaTech's future and their status in the ACC. I think we'll need to see if their defense was really that good, or if FSU's offense was really that bad. The reality is they had a couple of 3 and outs, a missed FG....against better teams that's basically game over. Answering FSU's opening drive and 2 point conversion with a 3 and a half minute drive of their own was incredible. But they then couldn't take advantage of an FSU turnover on downs, and in fact went 3 and out. Even just against more consistent teams like Louisville and NC State, that's going to be a sequence where they might just be down 2 scores by the time they got their offense going again. They did score again before halftime, but the exchange of missed FGs and punts to start the second half was pretty concerning. I'm not even going to look at ND or Georgia because their not conference games, and the Miami game we'll know more about after this Saturday. I trust the recent trend of consistency out of Louisville and NC State at this time, though this win does give GaTech a much better chance to finish in the top half of ACC play again this year.

My stat of the game is something a lot of people aren't really focusing on, because the defense is being called out, and DJU is being scapegoated, and all sorts of other things people are bringing. In FSU's first drive DJU was 2-2 for 17 yards, and they ran 5 times for 58 yards, with a 28 yard scamper from Toafili. That was the end of their game plan. DJU wasn't going to be winning this game, I think everyone at FSU knew this. Transfer QBs year 1 game 1 aren't usually great, and I don't think anyone was expecting DJU to be great. You know what they did expect though? Their run game to make that not matter. If you take out that one 28 yard score from Toafili, the supposed 1-2 punch of Roydell and Toafili ran the ball 19 times for 42 yards. That's *2.2 yards per carry*. The defense didn't help things, no DJU was not elite, but FSU's inability to run the ball was both the most shocking thing about this game, and the reason they lost. Even in the game tying drive, where DJU was forced to convert 2 separate 4th down tries, FSU ran it 7 times for 2 yards and a TD. You can go back and look, 7 times, 2 total yards, and the score on a goal line dive after DJU bailed them out on 4th with a 19 yard dime to the 1 yard line. That's shockingly bad, and something they're going to have to take a look at fixing. I know GT was tackling better than they ever did last year, but FSU's backs weren't even seeing the second line of defense. They were getting first contact behind the line of scrimmage so often (GT was I mean). If FSU can't fix that I do still think DJU will eventually be good enough for them to win more often than not this year (they clearly had a run first game play that they stuck to for way too long), but it's going to be a hell of a long year for Seminole fans.

I think they will be in the ACC championship game and maybe even a new year six bowl game the only game that I really foresee them struggling with is Georgia and they gave Georgia all they wanted last year so I feel like Georgia Tech has one two losses

The FSU OL got no push. GT took it to FSU in the trenches no question. I'm not a DJ U fan, but Joe is completely wrong saying DJ U is not a QB able to lead his team from behind. Embarrassing loss for my noles . Had a whole off season to prepare for ga tech and **** the bed . Losing 18 starters and replacing them with less talented players from the portal and not recruiting at an elite level caught up to fsu. But its the first regular season loss in 18 games and that was to dj u when he was at Clemson in 22 . Dj u wasn't good but missing destyn hill and hykeem Williams hurts . Oline is still bad and the defense has zero excuses to play like that . Hats off to ga tech they played tough. Love the show guys
