Florida Winter Fert - Sod Pods UPDATE

This is an update on how my Sod Pods (plugs) are progressing during this winter. Over the weekend I am publishing this, we are getting a ton of rain. I want to make clear, this video was shot (lawn fertilized) last week, well ahead of this rain. It's never a good idea to fertilize right before a heavy rain.

Glad you caught it. I was like, Hold up there... I have a Zero-G I've been using as my RV water hose for the last 6 years. Been a great hose. Plan on getting some more for the house next spring for my spraying and praying.

South Florida as well! I followed one of your old videos and did plugs in my backyard during winter 2021. Not sure how much truth there is to it, but I found it helped the plugs get a head start in front of the very aggressive summer weeds. 🤷‍♂️

Good to know I am on the right track. I just laid down some St Aug sod the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I have been hitting it with RGS (and other sea kelp products) and also some 7-0-1 green effect along with some mild granular.

I have two of those Zero G hoses I bought 3 years ago. They were fine for a year now they kink up all the time. Very frustrating to use.

Only complaint I have about the ego push mowers is that the battery is half the price of the actual mower I feel like the battery prices need to be a lot lower. Also I noticed they have third-party aftermarket batteries that work great and they’re only like 150 bucks. less Amps but way cheaper. Buy two of them for the same price.

I would not recommend an Ego push mower at this point. The hand tools are great. The mowers need work.

Is it better to leave the dead grass than rake it out? I was going to give mine a good rake first. I also have some white spots, not mildew on some blades, what’s that all about?

no need to rake anything, the new grass will push through. I'm not sure about the white spots though, never seen that.

No RGS for root growth? I'm moving to Florida in February ill have to transition from GCI coolblue to St Augustin. I understand that the roots don't grow as long. Its just what I've been told... correct me if I'm wrong

I have a few EGO and 1 of the batteries will only work (for a few min) if I bang it against something. Otherwise it will just flash red like it is dead. I google'd it to see that it is very common. Maybe your EGO reps will see this and help.

all earthway spreaders should be the same. If not, just put in 3 lbs and start at a setting that looks logical and go spread it on 1000 sq ft and see how it does. Re-adjust from there.

I did a soil test with the yard mastery app. I bought the recommended products and applied them. Will the calendar continue to update in 2024 suggesting what I should apply and when. After the 1st recommendations my calendar is now blank. How do I know what’s next and when?

I want to know how the EGO/battery powered products are holding up after about 3-4 years. My experience is that the batteries die very quickly then it's another several hundred dollars per battery to replace.

I got an Ego string trimmer in 2019 and I still have the battery for it and it still works. I do have lots of batteries though, so they get rotated often.

Main question, does the commercial grade trimmer spin counterclockwise like a true commercial grade trimmer or does it spin clockwise?

That's an interesting question. I will have to double check and let you know. I didn't even know there was a "standard" like that. I guess it must have to do with kicking debris in the beds and weather you walk forward or backward?

@@Thelawncarenut counter clockwise is a commercial trimmer, clockwise is residential. If you’ll notice on your residential Echo it spins clockwise. That’s why it tends to work better if you walk forward. A commercial trimmer spins clockwise and it works better if you walk backwards. That’s why over the years you’ve seen so many commercial guys walking backwards around flowerbeds and what not

@@Thelawncarenut that’s just the way the commercial trimmers have always spun so that has made the way you move kind of industry standard. As of now it’s really hard for a commercial guy to use a trimmer that spins clockwise. Now if they all became that way then a generation would go by and that would be the norm, it’s just not that way right now

Your Stress Blend in combo w/RGS for new st aug new sod is a winning combo. The negative comments I'm seeing on this video about you're selling stuff are just trolling. Yes, you're an influencer and clearly selling products - so what. You have to earn a living too. You're turf grass products are high quality and about the same and in many cases less cost than the generally inferior similar products from the big box stores. You're also providing a wealth of information and training for free too. Oh and you're videos are always fun and entertaining so there's that too. Keep em coming!

I have a 6ft, 50ft, and 75ft Flexilla which are all 3/4 inch. I have a 75ft Zero G 3/4 inch. I have never owned a hose that kinks or tangles more than a Flexilla. The Zero G rarely ever kinks or tangles and is way easier to move around as well. I would definitely buy Zero G again. I would buy the cheapest junk hose Home Depot sells before I would buy the overpriced Flexilla
