We have a saying on the rock. One hand can't clap. Heiko's numbers and Dan at the helm, everyone wins 👊 Heiko might have scouted all right but it might not have been for bugs. Plus he got a backup meal plan in case 😂 Good on you Elizabeth. I agree with you all the way on dispatching the bugs humanely. Same with fish. Always be aware of your surroundings that way Heiko can't sneak attack you 🤣😂 "That's what she said" never gets old. Five someone's had a great day lobstering. A whole lot of people had an even better day eating the spoils of the catch. Quick question on Florida loberting. Can scuba gear be used or is everything free diving? Elizabeth, the same compassion you have for lobsters is afforded by me to blue crabs. A ice pick to the brain area finishes them off and as a added bonus, if you're steaming them, the claws remain on the crab.

Yes, you can use SCUBA gear to catch lobsters here in the Keys you cannot spear them like you can in the Bahamas.

We used nets and tickle sticks in the old days. The issue with the net is it drags through the water significantly slowing down the process. REALLY appreciate the suggestion, though! Keep them coming!

What is the reason Florida has a mini-season before its regular season? Conservation?

So they open recreational mini season before the commercial fishermen can harvest. It’s because the commercial guys take 100’s at a time, so this gives recreational fishermen 1/2 a chance to get some lobsters early.

We do measure in the water and we double measure on the boat. It’s pretty boring to keep in showing every single measurement, so we cut some of that out.
