So, the rod holders are really used for fly rods attached to the hood of 4 wheel drive vehicles in Iceland. We saw them used by our guides when we went fly fishing there. Nice video. Tip, when solo, the moment you hook a fish you should put engines in neutral. A few boats have been found underway without crew, and others the Capt never found. Try to minimize how long you’re in gear away from the helm unless you hang a remote kill switch around your neck or the like. Cheers.

Nice catch Capt. Dan. How far back do you typically run that feather, or does it not matter? SatFish looks interesting but were there birds in the area you caught that beast. Alarmingly few birds when I was there last week

No birds at all. I typically run the solo feather 100 yards back, then another 50 yards and the squid rig in the prop wash.

Yes, actually had one awhile back and used to use it. However, it malfunctioned one time and shut the engines off while I was underway for no reason. Needless to say I never used it again. Definitely need something reliable that can be relied upon.

As being retired law enforcement, i would say they took a pretty long time, and it looked like they were being a little over board considering they checked your lobsters, which were within limits and size. Yes, they were doing their job, but I'm not sure if they had any probable cause to stop you. Not 100% on the boating laws on water. I still believe they need reasonable articulated suspicion that you have committed a crime about to commit a crime to id all of you. Remember there not your friends. The constitution still comes into play. Just my opinion, even though I'm retired, Leo.

So, I call it a feather but it is really a small thin chugger with a plastic black and purple skirt that covers the hook perfectly making it essentially weedless and very deadly in scattered weed conditions.
