This song is super special to me. In high school I worked at a dirt track. Some of my best friends raced there in thunder cars. They’d talk shit at school to each other but if someone was dirty racing to one of them or if one was in an accident they were right there to help the other one. The nights we spent after the races in the pits will always be cherished. A couple years after high school, Cody, one of my friends was hit by a drunk driver and paralyzed. He committed suicide shortly after that. He will always be missed. I’m sure he’s up in heaven turning wrenches and messing with his cars. This song bring those memories back to life for me.

Even if you're not the biggest country or pop country fan like me, this is an objectively beautifully written, upbeat song about values everyone can relate to: be proud of your roots and where you're from as they brought you to today, enjoy life and appreciate the simple things, accept that you're not perfect but try to learn from past hardships and mistakes. Well done.

Hadnt watched this video in a while but it came up the other day and i cried.. Especially the part where he crashed... I lost my dad last year and we had spent about 9 month building a short track racecar because he always wanted to get back to it (he raced before i was born, but with 6 kids there was no way to afford it) and i was in a position to help.. So we worked on it and took it to the track week after week but never got to run it because it had one problem after another... So this video itself made me think about him.. But the part with the crash really had me thinking, what if that happened to him? I wouldnt be able to get him out of the car... Maybe thats why we were never able to get the car running properly.... But then he got sick and passed any way, and he didnt even get to live his dream... Im glad i gave him something to look forward to every day, but id rather we were still getting frustrated at the car than to not have him around........

I played this song at my dad's funeral 4 years ago. He always worked at the dirt race track. I used to ride the packer cars with him. He passed away due to the flu. It still affects me to this day. A part of me died back then. He wouldn't wake up and just slept in his chair. I had to slap my own father just to get him to wake up. The ambulance came and carried him out on a blanket. And when we got to the hospital. They had to put him in a induced coma because of all the infection built up in his lungs. I will never forget my mom walking out about to fall down crying because he passed away. I didn't even get to tell him good bye or tell him that I love him. All I could do was punch a hole in the wall from so much anger. I am still just so angry and depressed because he was taken away from me. He was only 40 years old. I have to wake up everyday not fully understanding what to do next. I can't call my dad to ask him what I should do. I can't vent to him or ask him anything. All I can hope for is this heaven is fully real and not just the void.

I totally understand. I would give just about anything to see my dad one more time hug him and tell him I love him. I was his little girl, and as he would say, I had him wrapped around my little finger.

When this song came out, I was in a mental ward. I remember that this is the song that helped me come back to myself after a bad depression bout. This was the song that reminded me people do care about each other. This was the song that (to this day) reminds me.... may we all have a chance.

This hits so close to home it fucking hurts. I miss my family... I miss waking up to the fresh green grass that I know my dad is going to make me cut... I miss arguing with my brother, playing games until 3 in the morning, and the occasional trips out to the lake where we would all be having fun in each others company... basking in the sun, playing on the boats... And above all I miss the times when me and my dad would be at the racetrack for what seemed like forever even though we know my mom hated it... I'll be back soon, just 1 more year...

Love the song, but strike one, almost creates an accident in the first race, second race "hate to do this" then he hits the car, sends it into a roll, almost getting the other driver killed... some friend. Those who race, see it.
