Cute finishes and great WIPS! Great video. Waste canvas is what you use to cross stitch on shirts and things. When you are done stitching your pattern you tear away the fabric canvas.

You may have to wet the cross stitch to get the “tear away” fabric to release so I suggest stitching with DMC when issuing it. Good luck!

Great video ! You do such cute designs! Very nice variety as well. Congratulations on the haul , I also scored at my local Thrift store! 11 count is great to teach kids on, use more strands of floss but bigger holes to make it easier ! Waste canvas was very popular in the 80’s ! Your work for January is awesome!😊

The waste canvas I stitched on way back in the day was used on t-shirts or any fabric that you wanted a cross stitch design on. I still have two of my shirts, a Halloween design and a Thanksgiving design. And yes, I still wear them. You place the canvas on the area you want to stitch your design on and stitch it. Then I soaked the area and pulled the threads of the canvas out, leaving the design on my shirt. We only had DMC back in the day and it didn’t run when you soaked it in water. I wouldn’t use fancy floss on waste canvas. I have several of the metal magnetic boards and I love them. I used those back in the day as well. I enjoyed seeing all of your starts and finishes. Jobelan is stretchy and slippery because of the fiber content. It has cotton and modal rayon. Lugana is cotton and viscose by comparison.

@@the502stitcher back in the 80’s I made sweatshirts for my girls with waste canvas and wish I’d kept them for my granddaughters! I also made me a Halloween sweatshirt which I do still have.
