I keep my fingers on the back of the threads. Not necessarily tension but just so I know there’s an issue. I also go slower. The threads tend to unravel themselves if they have time to do so. I don’t worry about oils cause I wash my stitches before I finish them. Other than that, I only know about the dangling. I usually don’t Railroad cause it can cause a visible gap and I don’t like that look.

Thanks for sharing! Great tips here. We actually spoke off camera about the perks of feeling the back as you stitch to catch that knot. Will give it a go and slow down a bit.
