Glad you are feeling better, Nicola. That is a very interesting story about the map sampler. I enjoy hearing you tell the known details of the works and their histories. . The satin florals in today's map sampler are so gorgeous. I lived in Virginia Waters, Surrey in the early two thousands and loved it. When this Covid Crisis is over I plan to holiday in England and hopefully visit the Corrnish Coast I love anything to do with England, so different from the many places I have lived in the USA.. God bless you.

Nicola, I am so happy to see you are back and that your health continues to improve! For your consideration regarding pdfs, they are extremely helpful for those of us who live far away and have a hard time acquiring the booklets, which really are beautiful. I would love to stitch a sampler with flower motifs, these are wonderful! Thank you for your videos, they are making me feel part of a community, I found my tribe!

Isn't it so wonderful for Phillipa's samplers to be together again. I am glad it is you who have them! Thank you so much for sharing the stories as well as the stitches. I love the history almost as much as the beautiful stitching. When you said Truro, I recognized that name from watching the Poldark series on television. I think that you must live in one of the most beautiful places perhaps in the world. ❤ with love, Shari Witt

Hello! It’s so delightful to have another FlossTube video from you. I was starting to worry a bit, but I am very glad to hear that you are feeling well. The reproduction sampler you are working on has such intricate details that make the piece entrancing. My eyes didn’t know know where to look next. And, oh my, those shoes! I look forward to watching your progress. It is amazing that someone so young had the skill set to create the very regal looking registry sampler and the map sampler with it’s gorgeous border. My thought is that she didn’t attend a needlework school, per se. It seems likely that she would have trained with a village artisan or the family, being of means, could have hired a live in tutor. If Cornwall had a census you might find more information about her education looking closer to home. The backstory is always so uniquely fascinating. Stay well and stitch on!

Enjoyed seeing the map sampler - have considered doing a more localized version of one as a tribute to some scottish ancestors... I have enjoyed finding old hand-painted maps from 1700s UK that depict towns and natural features where various ancestors lived. Thought they'd make a great repro quilt fabric, too. Have to remember to pitch that idea to someone... : ) Glad you're better - your videos were missed by me and i'll be lots of other people, too.
