You've made me "Chatelaine Curious"! I never knew the back story on these patterns. And while I've seen several of them as WIPs on FlossTube, I have never actually seen anyone finish one. Which left me with the impression that they are gorgeous, but basically unstitchable. Time to parouse that website and start a small Chatelaine project. Thanks for the education and inspiration!

I really enjoyed this video. Very informative. I have 1 chatelaine kit in my stash that I purchased 9 years ago and have yet to start it. Mainly because of the pattern. It is so tiny and I guess I just don’t want to mess with trying to print small sections and the. Try to piece them together. Maybe some day I will get to it. I did have mine kitted by European Cross stitch. I can’t even imagine trying to gather all of the materials for a Chat. All of your Chat’s are beautiful!

I have finally found someone that loves Chatelaines as much as I do. I'm so glad you shared the Gallery site. The computer renderings are not going to give you any indication of just how intricate and gorgeous the actual stitched projects are. I also essentially scream at anyone that will even look my direction that you NEED the PDF. I don't care how much you like paper. PDF. PDF. PDF. PDF. Did I mention PDF? I'd like to share that while watching this, I finished the stitching on Herbularius. It only took me 5 years. I have a handful of beads and some crystals to apply and it will be completely done. My first Chatelaine. This does not mean I don't have another already started and at least 10 more waiting in the wings. I just need the people at my job to keep quiet for a couple of hours and I will be done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course every time I look at it, I'll think of you. That sounded creepy. Not meant in a creepy way. Also want to throw out there that I have showed Herbularius near the beginning of almost every single video since I started a Flosstube channel. I'm on board with more people showing more Chatelaines. MORE CHATELAINES!!!!! #salestartsMonday ~J

The K12! LOL My early 20's son recently went on a trip to Idaho to go skiing. I asked him if he was going to ski the K12. He had no idea what I was talking about. I told him the movie reference. He's a movie buff, but hadn't seen it. I immediately made plans to watch that movie with him. Now for a couple weeks, he's been seeing all these Better Off Dead references. I told him "Aren't you glad you watched that great movie now?" Yes, the Chatelaines will be the K12 for us stitchers. I saw your last video where you showed that Kitty Mandala and I immediately went and ordered the fabric. Yours is beautiful. Thanks for the enabling! :)

If you get the full thread pack and bead pack from ECS, it’ll be around $100. Plus cost of pattern and fabric. BUT you can save a ton by converting it all to DMC. I would def get the beadpack from European which I think is around $20.

Ive got Desert Mandala with EC floss/beadpack but dragging my feet bc of the NPK (no pattern keeper) thing. I guess enlarging the image might have to do, thx for the input. I recently finished Shannon Christine's Koi Pond which was like a mini Chatelaine, so I'm not as fearful as I once was. Euro Xstitch says to check the items right away bc theyre only refundable by 30vdays, but the packaging was so cute, I couldnt bear! I "layaway'd" it thru Affirm or Klarna or something. Great vid!

I think the Pattern Keeper thing is a drawback for a lot of stitchers! I hope you find a way that works for you! That mandala is gorgeous!

I use Markup RXP, but I have the same problem with a lot of older patterns which just don't work well. So I use a scanner (if you don't have a good one, see if your local library can help). Then I just use the PDF and highlight as I go along. I don't get all the fancy statistics, but at least I can see the symbols better!
@RedPandaHomebody9 ай бұрын
Joining the support group, but in the meantime I thought I would also ask here - is there anywhere that has ever kitted up the free chart? I like the idea of a small pattern to start out with, to test the waters, but with the materials needed, it’s kind of no longer a small chart in the sense of supplies?
@KitschyWips9 ай бұрын
That is true! I know people who have stitched it and it’s gorgeous but the supplies are still fancy. lol I don’t believe anyone has a kit for the freebie. It’s an investment anyway you look at it BUT Chatelaine does have a couple of sections for smaller and lower cost: Small and Mini: chatelaine.de/shop/size-small-mini/ Low Cost/Low Time: chatelaine.de/shop/low-cost-low-time/

Thank you for this video. I am thinking about taking the leap but I do have one question. Is it necessary to do chatelaines on a scroll frame? I have physical issues that I can only use the q snaps. I was able to use the 11 x 17 to do beading on a Mira. But it was only half the size of one of these. Thanks for the help and all this info so much fun to watch! 😊
@KitschyWips9 ай бұрын
No, you don't have to use a scroll frame! I currently use a q-snap so go for it!!! It'll get more tricky once you stitch to a certain size and start beading but you can definitely use a q-snap!

I have always WANTED to do a Chatelaine but the difficulty of finding the fancy flosses and beads has always dissuaded me from starting. I thought of doing one for my 50th (this April) but nope, I just couldn't come up with the money to even get the fabric... Maybe by the end of the year? Who knows.
@KitschyWips9 ай бұрын
Chats are absolutely an investment and the cost is considerable, which is unfortunate. You could sub out for all DMC, plenty of Chat stitchers do that! I've found the fabrics at European Cross Stitch to be the most affordable for the size. You could also pick a smaller Chat that would fit on a fat quarter and be less expensive. I think stitching one for your 50th is an awesome idea and I hope it happens, if not for the 50th, maybe 51??? I believe Chatelaine and ECC should be having their Spring sales soon! *needles crossed*
@ProcraftinatorSharon9 ай бұрын
