It breaks my heart that you've been so depressed, Laura. And makes me overjoyed that you seem to be on the upswing!!! I will be ecstatic to see another WIP parade when you feel like doing one. I'd be happy to watch it even if you had 840 WIPs. ;) If you really want your WIP count down to 50, I will certainly be cheering for you! I think the right number of WIPs for a person is whatever number said person wants. I personally have 133 at the moment, and I'm fine with that. I make mistakes when I stitch too. When I do this I just laugh and think to myself - well I get to enjoy stitching this design a little bit longer. Life is not perfect and having a few bumps in the road is part of the journey. I’m just happy that my journey is lasting so long. From this old lady to you, please keep smiling.

Ugh, those knots... Someone told me that they tie them down using a loop knot. Hmm... maybe that will be worth trying! Gosh, I am so so so happy that you are enjoying watching the videos!!!! +big smile+ I am hoping to make another one this week. Been a bit anxious about an appointment tomorrow (which most likely will turn out to be a non event and I have worried about it for nothing), so couldn't film over the weekend, but once that is done... Our mental health is so important. Sometimes I feel the same way as you. A thing I do that helps me is to sit somewhere that has a bright light or in the sunshine. I like to visualize the light as a warm hug! Sorry if that sounds corny but sometimes it helps to push ourselves in a different directions when emotions are getting the better of us. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing your progress. When you smile it makes me smile.😊

Riolis berries, Moth Dance and Delphiniums are some of my favourites, so it was a treat to see them all. Those new cat charts are fabulous! Would cropping the Country Threads farm/chickens work? I can’t begin to comment on everything I want to as by the end it’s all gone from my menopausal brain 😅 I think I love everything you showed, I need to do some smaller easier completed pieces. I love your Mill Hill ffo’s, I’ve never seen those before. I’m glad you’ve come to realise that your head is telling you things that actually isn’t happening , as Buddhist teachings tell us, the heaviest burdens we carry are the thoughts in our heads, how silly though, they are thoughts, not even facts, and how we choose to deal with them can make all the difference. I was thinking, why not put all the wips with meagre starts away until you make a dent in ones with more progress, they will seem like new pieces when you return to them, there’s no hurry..it’s only fabric and threads at the end of the day. Those Mill Hill finishes were so cute! I had tons of fun starting the moth pattern together 💖 I can be quite cruel to myself as well and one of my tactics is pretending I'm saying those same words to someone I really care about. Shuts my mean-girl brain right up, most of the time! Can't wait for a little WIP parade! They're always my favorite.

Hello Laura - thank you for sharing with us. Your stitching is always wonderful to see. I wanted to address a couple of things in the hope of being helpful. First, your feelings about having an excess of projects and fears of finishing them are not wrong. You just took a glance to the side, as we all do from time to time, and were hit with the reality that in every step of our life's journey, Mortality walks beside us. It was there at the beginning, and it will be there until the end. Its presence means that not every dream can come to be, but that's okay. The problem is not that Mortality is with us, but that sometimes we get fixated on that sideways view and fail to see the road we are walking. The calm, the peace, the joy that comes to you from your stitching is on that road; staring too much at our unwelcome companion spoils your view of the journey. Second, in evaluating what stitching offers, it's likely best only to ask whether the positive outweighs the negative; we can almost always find something to criticize if we look for it (perhaps the cost? the mental and physical space it occupies? the time gone to it?), but what price can be put on its immeasurable good? It can be harder in life to find the good things; when advised to stop and smell the roses, don't be afraid to let stitching be your rose garden. Finally - and if this applies for you it's something for your psychologist to help you with, not an amateur like me - try not to ask your stitching to do more than possible. I know the kinds of things I do to try to fend off painful emotions or unhappiness, and I fear that when I find myself turning from project to project, succumbing to new starts, or shopping for the next serendipitous "discovery" in the way of a new pattern or kit, I'm really just acting like a drug addict trying to escape the pain of life in a way that once helped, only to discover the old dosage has lost its effect. Though it soothes, my desperate effort to make stitching "fix" my problems can't succeed because it doesn't address the root of my issues. I need to remind myself that stitching has wonderful value in itself, and not to cloud those precious hours by asking it for more than it can give; I think I'm finally getting better at that. Best wishes for your health and happiness, and thank you so much for making us a part of your life.
