Hi Joanne, it's good to see you again. I have Pumpkins for Sale in my stash and need to get it stitched for next fall. So enjoyed seeing all your progress on it. While watching you today I'm stitching Vivster's 12 Days of Christmas 8 Maids a Milking. I finished up a couple of fall designs before bringing out several Christmas charts to stitch this year. Love your enthusiasm for your stitching.

Thank you for sharing what you're stitching on! It sounds like a fun Christmas project☺ So appreciate you visiting here and commenting. Enjoy Pumpkins for Sale when the time comes around! 🍂🎃
Oh, I just enjoyed so much watching you and seeing what you are working on! I love Christmas Journey also and just got on Ebay and ordered it. I had said to myself that I am not stitching all of that white snow, and was glad to hear you say that too. I am reading about Juniper and Johnny now in "There's Gold in These Hills" and am loving it! You have such a beautiful way with words and have me right there on location and in the story. I have more of your books in my Amazon cart. I live about 10 or 15 miles west of Mount San Jacinto Mountain off of the 10. We used to go up there quite a bit, (my husband passed away in 2014 and so it has been awhile since I have been there) and it is so much fun to read about that area. I usually stitch on 36 count linen, but I have a very bright Ott light hanging over my head and so I can see it very well. I also love Fiddler's and Rustico aida cloth because I stitch a lot of rustic designs. Your little Christmas goose is so adorable and I can't wait to see it as it comes along. l am looking forward to your next video and seeing all of your stitching. Take care. (:

Hello and what a joy your comment is! I'm so touched that you're reading my books and the Gold in These Hills. How amazing that you live nearby there -- the story is set in Garner Valley, near Lake Hemet. I lived in Idyllwild for many years and still have a house there :) And hooray about Christmas Journey! I've got some big updates on that pattern in my next Flosstube so I hope you catch that one, as I've noticed a few tricky things about the pattern. First, is that it's hard to read at times since it's full color. I was considering buying the PDF (leisurearts.com/leisure-arts-christmas-journey-cross-stitch-epattern) so I could load it into an app of some kind, so what I've done instead is photo copy it on a lighter setting and it helps. But I'll go into more detail in the video. Also, I'll be curious as to what you will think about the grid. I'm going to share that in the next video too as I'm wondering if the count might be off. I'll be eager to know what you think once you look at the pattern as well. Even with the challenges, I'm already loving the results and am glad we can be on this "Christmas Journey" together!

@@Joanne_TheStoryStitcherYou just gave me a great big smile! I can hardly wait for the pattern to arrive. I am curious to see what you mean about the count maybe being off. After I watched your video tonight, I also got on Etsy and printed off the Autumn Squirrels. It is so cute and will be fun to do. Etsy is so much fun to buy PDF patterns from. I will Google map where exactly Garner Valley is. I saw the Kenworthy historical marker online, but couldn't figure out the area that it is in. I also ran across your rock climbing video with you and your guide out there in that area. Every book that I read, I look it up to see where it is because it makes it more fun!

Hi Joanne, great video. Your wips are all looking wonderful. I stitch Christmas all year round, I like to have at least one new finish a year. For your full coverage, I'd recommend making a copy to be able to mark off your progress. There are so many different ways to stitch a full coverage that you just have to find what works for you. I do a cross country style, picking a thread colour and stitching it as far as I can. This works best with pattern keeper because it highlights all the stitches in one colour. I can't stitch in columns or rows because I have a thighs tension and it would show lines between each column or row.
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher21 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing more about your process! I've definitely been wanting to look into Pattern Keeper or Mark up or an app like that. It's been SUCH a learning curve trying out this full coverage but after a number of false starts, I finally have some stitches that I think will work. ;)

I would have been so excited to find your goose ornament! What a great find! Bundle 1 and 2 probably means it had floss in the kit at some point. They were labled in bundles to make it easier to identify the colors because they were not separated neatly. Also something to think about... dmc colors in the 90's were different than they are currently. If you use the dmc list included to pull floss and notice they are not quite the same as the cover picture that is why. That frame is so perfect, I hope you use it. For your full coverage piece, stitch on fabric you love. You are going to be working on it for a long time. There are some pre-gridded fabrics out there. When you are done stitching you soak the fabric and the grid marks disappear. And for the record there is no inappropriate time of the year for Christmas stitching or Christmas music 😉. Im enjoying your flosstubes, hope to see you again soon!
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher23 күн бұрын
Nicole - I was so excited! It seemed really unique and special 😊And oh, that make sense now about bundle 1 and 2 -- thank you!! I also appreciate the tips about the DMC and vintage patterns as well as stitching on what we love. I think I've FINALLY found the fabric through some trial and error this week and am getting it all gridded up. I agree about Christmas music. It is the most lovely time of the year and having it on only makes it better. Happy stitching this coming Christmas season!
@Hexagonstitches19 күн бұрын
Lovely seeing your progress. Just a word about your Christmas piece. Because it has 1/4 st they are easier to work on an evenweave as with Aida you will have to pierce the centre of the squares. Might be an idea to do a search on working 1/4 stitches. Jean Farish might have a tutorial. Beautiful piece. If your goose was originally a kit with floss. Band 1 would be 1 set of threads and band 2 a second to assist with the sorting of the threads. Right from your first video you have reminded me of Liz Matthews. It’s your freshness and enthusiasm. Love your squirrels
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher19 күн бұрын
Thank you for all these great tips! I've been wondering this as well and ended up sticking with the aida just so I could grid it and since there weren't too many 1/4 stitches in the pattern. So I'm hoping it will work out okay! And how kind of you. I really enjoy watching Liz Mathews, so your comment made my day!

I am hankering to do a full coverage Christmas pattern also…I usually only do one full coverage at a time on my flosstube but I love full coverage and think I am going to expand this. Hmmm. I grid with polyester floss and pull it as I get to the stitch at that point. You can do it…I use pattern keeper for full coverage so it is easier to stay accurate. 🦉🧵🪡

I just remembered to subscribe to your channel! I’ve been watching and had forgotten to do so before - Welcome and I think you’re doing a remarkable job. You are very ambitious for a brand new stitcher. I’ve been stitching for about 41 years and have always loved it! In the 80’s or early 90’s I stitched Country Church by P Buckley Moss. It has hung proudly in many of my homes and still does!! My DMC is bobbinated and my overdyed floss are in Floss Away bags. I have never gotten into the floss drops - I’d rather spend the time stitching. I currently have The Gold In These Hills on loan from our library. I must confess that I had Sons of Blackbird Mountain out before but didn’t get to it. Rest assured that I will be reading them both soon! Looking forward to more videos!

I meant to get some after I watched your last flosstube, but I paused today’s video and purchased them while I was sitting here.😊 As far as floss storage, I’ve been cross stitching since the early 1980s. I’m still using the same system because it works so amazing. My daughters use the same system. I do use floss away bags. But I have some things that I do that make it super simple and wonderful. Would love to email you pictures and information if you’re interested. I just love watching your joyous spirit as you talk about Cross stitch. Glad you are enjoying it so much! Laura, I hadn't thought of that so I appreciate your tip! ❄ I just gave the pattern another study and it looks like the 1/4 stitching is in a few small parts (Santa's beard, the lantern, and the church) so I am *hoping* it won't be too daunting but I'm going to keep thinking on a gameplan. I have a hunch that whatever I do, it's going to be a little bit of a rollercoaster, LOL. So I really appreciate your prep and tip!

As far as when to stitch Christmas you can do it yr round or pull it out in July and do Christmas in July which is a big thing. Right now my big push is trying to finish all the months of the yr by The Cricket Collection designed by Vicki Hastings. I have a Chantell 141 shelve that I place them on and. I'm new to cross stitch. I don't understand the floss drops. Do you have to undo the whole thing to get your next piece of floss. I mean it does look so much more organized than mine. Please advise. Also what to do you do with the fabric on the side of your project that your not using yet. Send like it gets in my way and I don't want it to get dirty. Thank you from a lonely learner. Lol
@Joanne_TheStoryStitcher23 күн бұрын
Great questions, Betsy! I am new to cross stitch, too! From what I've learned about Floss drops, there's a way to simply slide your needle under a single strand of floss and pull it out of the entire floss drop. I have done that but find I prefer to pull off a 6-strand section and remove the single strands that way. It's more time consuming, but they don't curl up as badly. But I think it's definitely preference and what would work for you! For the extra fabric, I roll it up and there are magnetic clips that will hold it into place. I got mine on Amazon. Or you can use a grime guard, I understand, which I have also been doing if I'm using a snap frame. I ended up getting steering wheel cover from the dollar tree with viewers recommended and it helps. Good luck and bravo on starting out! I did the same thing only this past August when I first tried cross stitching and am so glad for it. I hope you have a great adventure. :)

Hello! It’s a pattern by “Posie” and you can find it right in the website 😊

Greetings Joanne, I recently purchased Grandpa's House by P Buckley and when reviewing the instructions thread blending is used in this pattern. I believe your goose pattern may also be using the blending method for stitching. Combining colors of threads stitched together ie@ Bands 1 & Bands 2? Unfortunately, without seeing the actual pattern we are guessing. Keep us all posted with your progress!!

Thank you so much for your advice. I'll read over the pattern again regarding the blends and bands 1 and 2. I appreciate it! It's fun (and challenging) to try out different styles of patterns, isn't it? I just looked up Grandpa's House and what a sweet and lovely pattern. I hope you enjoy getting started on it!

I just sent you a message on Instagram but it put my wrong email. It was auto fill and it’s my old email. Now it won’t let me go back and message you with my correct one. Oh dear. Now I’ve probably totally confused you. 😮

No problem at all! That would be frustrating. I'll definitely look for the message. 😊
