Lori thank you SOOOOO much for this video. I am not a new stitcher... but am back at it after years of hiatus. All of the videos of stitching in hand that I have seen show crossing the other way, I always used a frame and stitched my upper thread bottom left to top right... and did not want to change now. I am thrilled to watch you demonstrate stitching in hand the way I do!!!! Now I have the confidence to try it!!! I also appreciated the tip about skimpy use of the beeswax... AND the use of counting pins! Please keep your videos coming. I am learning so much! I also quilt and enjoy your quilting videos and products. These hobbies are wonderful to find again... and are getting me through the pandemic. Thank YOU!!!

Thank you, Lori! Great video. Yes, it was very helpful. I used to x stitch many years ago. I also have quite a stash of punch needle charts. Lord help me, I am anxiously awaiting your dive into punch needle. Right behind you, girl!

I enjoyed your tips about stitching in hand, and completing each x if using over dyed floss. I was especially interested to see that you work right to left; and turn your work upside down. Additionally you are only rolling the fabric at the top and bottom. I originally did all cross stitch in a hoop, but am eager to attempt in hand stitching as I am returning to cross stitch after decades of not cross stitching. I am starting with Erica Michael’s quilt abc. I am an avid quilter, and when I saw that cross stitch from Nashville market 2023, I had to start it. It has been slow going, and I frog more than I stitch, but I’m glad to be back stitching. I have learned many tips and tricks by watching various floss tube presentations. I will start with your #1 and binge until I have seen them all. I actually started with the most recent 6/23…and watched a couple of others…where the title indicated it was something I needed to know 😊. Thank you for presenting these, I am enjoying them and learning many new tricks for an octogenarian 😂 💛

Ok, I've been stitching since I was 12 years old and I've never been able to master the in hand method. After watching this, now I know why, I've been trying to do it backwards. This was an outstanding tutorial and I'm going to give the in hand stitching technique another shot now that I've seen it. And your idea about putting a pin every 10 to 20 stitches on a border is brilliant. I don't know why I've never thought of that before, but that's going to save me SOOOO much time. Love your videos, please keep making them. :-)

Stitching in hand over 35 years, but never too old to learn a new trick. Thanks. Like your stitching board. I use the count 10 and complete your x, continue until you come back. Also, always roll work with backside showing. Keeps your front always clean. I do threads with cutting as you do. I did the pink house too. Loved it

Oh my goodness! This video is so helpful. I taught myself how to cross stitch back in the 70's and enjoyed it for many years. I'm not sure why I stopped, (kids, work, life, etc.) but I'm just now getting interested in it again at the age of 67. I wasn't too worried about finding the right lighting or magnifying glasses so I can see without straining. I was looking for a new method to hold my fabric without using those darn rings and leaving marks on my fabric though. This video is the answer to my problems. I never even considered holding the fabric rolled up in my hands! I'm going to give this a try and see how it goes. Thanks so much, Lori.

Lori, Thank you so much for this video!!! I quit cross stitching for over 20 years. Finally, I decided I was not going to give up and I started again. Your "set up" the cart, the pattern holder, lap tray etc I have pretty much all of the same set up as you. Yes, I did use your ideas !!! LOL It has helped me so much and keeps me much more organized for my projects. Next, I am going to try hand stitching. I still use qsnaps. But this video is going to help me with that also. Of course, I am a quilter, so I have used so many of your ideas there also !

I love your idea of using straight pins to count rows...that's genius. I love watching you stitch, but it would be a huge help to have a super close up view of your actual stitches as I've never used linen or done 1 over 2, etc. I think that makes for a beautiful piece though and would love to learn more of that. QUESTION: you’ve mentioned several times you.had a frame you wanted to try and use, and knew if you stitched on a particular count of linen, you could make it work. Will you demo this in a tutorial? Lori, I have since found out I can get the 1 long thread just from the threads on the cards, by separating out 1 thread from th looped part & pull out the 1 thread, untangled. I found I need the magnifications too, even with my eyeglasses. Heard that I can ask for a prescription for magnified lenses for my X-stitch projects, so, will be doing that next month... great idea. I have also found I need more than the window daylight coming through to my work area, in my stitching area. Currently, using a daylight bulb in the Ott floor lamp.

When you are showing your room, I have to pause the video just so I can take in every inch! I have those same old bread boxes waiting to be painted for my space. Interesting watching you stitch on linen as I have always done Counted Cross Stitch on Aida, and have always steered away from cross stitch on linen because I have never understood how it was done, it looks so complicated LOL. Looking forward to LOTS MORE VIDEOS. I am also going to make your project bags, that video also GREAT. Thank you so much for all your hard work, hints, tips and your lovely soothing voice.
