Mums are a Texas thing for Homecoming. Homecoming in other states do have a week of themed days as well, but the Homecoming football game is usually followed by the formal dance either on the Friday night or on Saturday night depending on the school. Sometimes there is a bonfire on the Thursday night after the junior varsity game. Friday afternoon parade with class floats, cheerleaders, football team float for varsity and junior varsity, marching band, and class officers floats. When I moved to TX, I never understood the “mum” thing.

From what I’m hearing, the mums use to be much smaller. Maybe closer to a corsage. Leave it to Texas to keep making them bigger 😂

Oh it’s time to get that quilting stuff out! 70 is still young. My grandparents are 86 and still doing all the things! I think our hobbies keep us young, despite my husband and kids telling me I have “old lady hobbies”. I love the turkey hollow chart! I also love that you have a black dog too ❤

I am currently working on Hope's Journey Sampler Quilt. I love it, I am working on assembling my quilt. I have the first panel completed, 2 more panels to do. I used Jo Morton fabrics...Adamstown and a couple others.

I started Hopes Journey last January with a commitment to do one chapter a month. I stuck to my commitment because I have always loved that quilt. What I wish someone had told me to do, was to pick my setting and figure out what I was going to need for all the filler blocks. There are alot of them and I should have done a few every month because it is taking a long time. I am forging ahead and determined to have it done because it is a beautiful quilt. Mine is also all reproduction fabrics.

I have the same issue with the naked people and the creepy angels... not for me either... was thinking of just adding more flower, animal or tree things instead!!! I am enthralled by knitters... to watch them click click click without even looking is astounding to me! I have started to learn knitting, apparently I am a slow learner, I have not tried the purl stitch yet... that's next on my list to learn.

I might have to join in wool Wednesdays. I knew I had a wool and applique kit that was Halloween and adorable, but I wasn't sure where it was. I probably started it about 10 years ago. So many things. First, I grew up in Michigan and currently live in Minnesota. Homecoming is a big thing in both places. Second, if you are ever in the Detroit area, you should visit Bronner’s in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is the world’s largest Christmas store . It is an amazing place for Christmas lovers. Finally, I live 10 minutes away from Buttermilk Basin store in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. It is a very dangerous place for your wallet. I love your videos. You are a joy to watch.

Three of My grandchildren go to school in Amarillo. They had the mums for their homecoming. I love that they include the elementary grades in with the pep rallies for the game. What does it mean to starch the fabric? Love all your projects. I've been doing some wool the last few years. Have you checked out Sue Spargo? She is a little more contemporary but she does some great wool with embroidery. Enjoy your week.

I didn’t know there are high schools that don’t celebrate homecoming. Ours is just like yours minus the mum swag, and is the first formal of the season. My son in homecoming court his senior year. The mum swag would be a great tutorial. I do have to watch your videos in segments and then again all the way through, but only because I have to stop, lookup things and order! 😂😂😂. Hi Vicki! I sewed the front and back wrong sides together while also sewing the chenilleit to the front and back all at the same time. Then did the slit in the back to stuff. I hope that makes sense.

I’m going to work on a tutorial today. Hopefully I can pull it off. I’ve never made a tutorial before. It won’t be on a cross stitch project (I don’t have one ready to finish right now) but I will go over past cross stitch projects. I hope it helps!

It’s called Homestead Heritage. It’s incredible and a perfect place to go with the husband! They had a super cute waffle restaurant there and I hear they have great coffee. They even had hayrides. I highly recommend this place. Looking at the website it looks like they are having a fair in November!

Hi Lynda! They are all types of floss that aren’t in a project. They are by color right now but it’s not the best method.

I am not a fan of the Adam & Eve figures or angels either, especially when they are creepy looking😊 Kate, I am sure I have The Bells and could make you a working copy. The wedding ring quilt design is my all time favorite! How lovely!

But I watched your video in one foul swoop 🤣 except one small pause to bath the dog 😂 I also don't like Adam & Eves and weird people on cross stitching, it's not that its religious, its just that I don't like the look of them.
