Thanks so much for this great video. I am a miniaturist and over the years have done most everything except petit point projects but you have hooked me. I have just ordered a handbag kit from Janet Granger. Now let’s hope I can see well enough to do it 😁. Love the projects you have done. Gorgeous work.

Thanks for sharing info about petit point. I hope you will continue as you learn more. I'm not sure I can stitch something that small but love learning about it. My mom had a miniature house that my grandpa built for her. The roof had hand-made tiny shingles, siding was carved to look like brick. And it was fully wired so each room had lights. The roof lifted off so you could easily access the second floor. It was amazing and I can remember playing with it when I was young. Your blue piece turned out fantastic.

🤗 Hello Jennifer! Thank you for taking the time to explain the stitches, you did a lot of research on that! The miniature pieces for the house are so cute! Enjoy your weekend! Happy stitching!

Kudos! Your video is the best I have seen so far. I have done petit point for years involving large pieces, i.e. 26" Christmas stockings & large pillows. The stockings probably cost $500 each by the time I had them blocked & professionally finished. I used all sorts of fibers & metallics . They each took about a year to complete. I took a few years off due to the expense of the hand painted canvases. Do you know of any source for less expensive canvases as well as a source for unusual stitches like a Santa beard? I have been house bound for 4 years because of health issues & am unable to walk much or drive. I really enjoyed your videos as well as your manner of presentation. Definitely refreshing after the other videos I have watched. Thanks so much! Rhonda Boesken

Hi Rhonda, I have never used hand painted canvases but I have heard they are very expensive. The silk gauze I use for my work is very high count so the pieces end up small enough to put in my miniature house. I do have a few older needlepoint books that have all sorts of specialty stitches in them. I mostly got them from my library used book sale. I think you can also find them at used book websites like abebooks.com or halfpricebooks.com. Just search for needlepoint books on those sites to find them.

Great video! Thanks for sharing your research; you do a great job with explanations. I stitched my first 40 count silk gauze piece last year - not knowing much about it. I "blocked" it by lacing (also my first lacing job :-) so not perfect) it on foam core and putting in a 3x3 frame. I'd like to do another and bought Lone Elm Lane's Swan Lake thinking it would be a good piece to do on gauze. Your Victorian house is neat -- reminds me of childhood visits to my grandparents large Victorian house. And finally, love your color interpretation of the French Quaker -- keep the floss tubes coming!

I looked up the Swan Lake pattern and I think it would be beautiful in petit point! There is definitely a learning curve to silk gauze, but it is fun to figure it out.

Another great video! Thanks for all the info on the petit point. It is so nice of you to share your knowledge. I love how your Quaker Mystery (blues) Sampler came out. Great choice on the variegated floss for the water section. Looks like you and your daughters had a fabulous time! I enjoyed seeing that. Looking forward to your FFO "Autumn".

Great video! I've only been cross stitching about 1 1/2 years and was curious about Petit Point, and you gave me a lot of information of where to begin if I want to get into it. I love the pillows you made and all the little pictures! I've had enough of stitching very large projects so have been concentrating on ornaments and cards. This might be a new avenue for me to explore. Thank you so much!

They are a lot of fun but a pretty big commitment. A lot of people start with a room box - just a single room to decorate and it takes up a lot less display space. You should try one!

I just found your video as I was searching to see if anyone has made a video of how to finish a petit point rug once it has been blocked. I love the Frances Peterson video. She is amazing. I belong to the petit point group that you mentioned. You should NEVER feel embarrassed about posting. We are all there to share and learn. I have done many petit point rugs but I have always sent them to someone else to finish and I want to learn how to do it myself without harming a rug that I have spent months or even years completing. I suggested this to the group just today so we'll see if anyone steps up and shares. It seems that many of the experts are retired or are at home due to Covid so I am hopeful that this will happen. I have finished pillows without too much heartache. Once again keep up the good work with your petit point. If you need magnification you might be able to do up to 72 ct at some time in the future. Even with major magnification I have never even tried anything beyond 48ct. OK, I have rattled on long enough. Good Luck with your projects! Hope

Congratulations on a successful encampment! I know the girls had so much fun. And thank you for explaining petit point!! I am intrigued by it but don’t have time for that much concentration currently! Maybe once all my kids are in school all day. I still have my 3-year-old at home most of the day.

I notice that you use "picture matting" for your stitching... could you please show how you put the "frame" together?
@stitchingwiththewaves5 жыл бұрын
I will try to figure out how to video a tutorial. I haven't tried that yet. But for now here is a quick description: I use foam core board. I cut 2 pieces exactly the same size and glue them together. I use an exacto knife to cut out the opening in the center. I used flat head pushpins to pin the silk gauze to the frame (my pins were too long for one piece of foam core - that is why I glued 2 pieces together). Then cover the pin heads with blue painters tape so my floss doesn't catch under them when stitching.

please. make a video of cross stitch and petit point stitch. I am a beginner and want to see how the two stitches are sewn. I was looking for such a video on the Internet, but I did not find it

I have recorded a video of the tent continental stitch which is one of the stitches used in petit point. Here is a link to that video. Petitpoint Tutorial #1: Tent Continental Stitch kzbin.info/www/bejne/aniwq4Webd2Ij6c The other petit point stitches are half cross and basket weave. You can search on KZbin for video demonstrations of those. And if you search KZbin for “how to cross stitch” you should find lots of tutorials on how to get started with cross stitch. Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of needlework!

I can do cross stitch. However, I want to see how the two stitches side by side. that's what I'm looking for so I can clearly see the difference. As far as I understand, with a petit point stitch, the fabric splits, but I'm not sure if it is
