I love throwing color at white fabric. I'm currently trying out some new to me dye and seeing how it reacts with scrap fabric.

I’m so glad I found this video! I’ve been looking for one where more than one color is used. Your tutorial makes it look so easy and your fabrics turned out beautifully. I enjoyed your assistant as well. Thanks for sharing this! 🥰

You're welcome! I prefer more than one color on my fabrics. I just like the fact it pulls the eye throughout the piece.

You're welcome! I prefer dying my fabric when I have more than one to do. I had seven to do, missed one that was still in its bag. 😆 I got it done though

Thank you for this great video. Your fabrics turned out so pretty. Can you wash your project after you are done stitching?
@brittanycrossstitches Жыл бұрын
I don't wash them if it's hand dyed. I just don't want to chance it after all the work I've done.

I love how your fabrics turned out. This is a great video. Can you let me know how you mix your dye…what ratio do you use for all four ingredients. I’ve tried dying in the past and never thought of using 2 shades of the same color to get the results I wanted. Thanks for sharing

To be honest, I just kind of guess. If I want the dye to be darker I add more dye and less water. If I want it lighter less dye more water. In each bottle I just put a drop of dawn dish soap in the bottle with the dye and mix that together before I add the salt water. I usually add a whole cup of salt to about a gallon of water. I hope that helps! If you have more questions please feel free to ask

@Sallyann Cole it really is easy. I don't think about it much. Just squirt it. Let it dry, rinse then iron.

@@brittanycrossstitches do you use special dye?
@brittanycrossstitches Жыл бұрын
@@sallyanncole2447 no, just the regular rit all purpose dye.

What’s the purpose of adding salt? I’ve always wanted to dye my own but have been too unsure how to do it. You make it look super easy. And what count do you usually use? I’m a 14-18 count due to my eyesight.
@brittanycrossstitches7 ай бұрын
I think the salt helps set the dye. It's in the instructions to add it, so I assume that's what it's for anyway. I usually dye 28 count, being I'm usually dying it for a fancy lady, but I've dyed all different counts of fabric. I try to not over think it and just throw color around.

Hey, greetings from Germany! I am new to Crossstitch ... Did you wash your Fabrik before you Stitch???
@brittanycrossstitches Жыл бұрын
I have a sister who lives in Germany and has both German and USA citizenship. I wash it before I dye it. Then rinse it thoroughly after dying it. I never wah it right before I stitch and don't wash it when I finish stitching a piece I've done on fabric I've dyed in case it may run. I hope this helps!

Love this. What fabric did you use ?
@brittanycrossstitches Жыл бұрын
28 count Monaco. It's always my favorite to use. I prefer a stiffer fabric
