Thank you! I needed that tent stitch explanation as to what it was doing to the fabric! I'm a believer. Thank you for the tip. Karen (Stitching Past My Bedtime)

You are welcome! I was so confused when I first started watching FlossTube! And I got into more full coverage a tent stitch sounded perfect!

Thank you for doing this video. I am working on a couple big projects using tent stitch and never thought about how the fabric might pull! I'm not too far in so it's something I can change. Unfortunately, I am too far in to change the direction of my stitch but that explains why it doesn't look quite the same as my other projects! 😅 I have plans to start a couple more tent stitch projects this year so I will remember these tips!

You are welcome! Yeah doing the first leg only looked really weird to me, I’m sure you will get used to it though! Definitely more natural to stitch that way. When I go back to full cross I always mess up the first few stitches! Glad I could help!

Whenihave done needlepoint in the past I have always done my slant in the opposite direction I’ve always done charted . I’ve never done cross stitch. I ready to give it a try. I’ve always done full coverage on a silk Penelope canvas. Have I always done it in the wrong direction. Please advise. Thank you

It doesn’t really matter which way your slant goes, as long as it is the same every time. Cross stitch is traditionally done on Aida cloth, an evenweave fabric or linen. Aida is the best for when you are first starting out. Hope this helps!

Great video, I will be using this same method 😊 . May I ask, what is the length of the floss you use for this 28count fabric ? Thanks
@x-stitchandchill4 ай бұрын
Thanks! I’m not sure I understand your question. I usually measure my floss from my fingers, across my chest to the opposite shoulder. But really it’s personal preference how long you cut your floss.

I am new to using this fabric with tent stitch. What size perle cotton should I use and do you put in a frame?
@x-stitchandchill3 күн бұрын
For this I use DMC 6 strand cotton embroidery floss. Since it's a tent stitch I'm using two strands over 1 square. If I was doing a full x I would use just 1 strand. Perle cotton is more for needlepoint I think. For big projects, I like to use a q-snap since it holds the fabric tight really well!

Thank you so much, this video is priceless. I just started a project doing tent stitch, it is a 14 ct stamped project so I am doing 4 over 1 and I love it. On your project it looked like you had some stitches going straight across. May I ask why? Thank you so much for sharing this. Take care 💗
@x-stitchandchill8 ай бұрын
I probably just messed up… haha! With the 28 count they are just so small! Sometimes they look straight across too because they are tiny. Are you liking the coverage on the 14 ct?

I am loving it so much! I am so much more excited to finish it and see how it looks. Thank you. It is totally amazing💗

I just started a 14 count using 4 over 1 tent stitch too. I'm not sure, but I think I love the coverage. I started it with typical cross stitch (2 over 1 if I am getting the lingo straight), but I heard about the tent stitch as a means to stitch quicker (so I can do more projects)....and decided to try it. From a distance, I think it works. (furiously stitches for about an hour.....) Yeah, it works!

@@tammygant4216 it definitely looks better with full coverage than a traditional pattern! I might try 18ct with 3 over 1 at some point, but I gotta get some other stuff done too!
