The difference might be the amount of ram and storage the phone has...some ppl don't even use all the options a high end device comes with .my supervisor had an iPhone and didn't even know what an app was..or let alone new about the app store. It isn't necessary to get someone a ln expensive device of they're not gonna take advantage of all it has to offer

Some people buy the latest just to flex. I know several people as well who owns flagship devices and simply use their phones for usual task and social media. Budget/midrange phones are more than capable of performing those tasks as well.
