I just wish everybody was doing this. It would make our industry stand out so much better. Homeowners just don't understand how important it is to balance their system.😢 Great video guys thanks so much!

The Alnor flow hood should be used after every new install. Especially if a 2 stage variable speed gas furnace was installed. The proper cfm will need to be selected using the dip switches on the furnace. The output will need to be confirmed using the flow hood. Once you have the correct total cfm output, then you can balance the air flow into each room. Doing this will make your customers very happy.

Very useful to be able to balance the air, but you need to have done a load calculation and know what the required air flow is.

Will static pressure go up or do you end up using all the cfms the fan is putting out ?

On that flow hood if the cfm is 150 and over you have to hold the red button until the square opens up only a border of the square should show and you need to slide over and open the window.

Seems like you have motorised Volume control dampers? Shouldn’t you start off with the index run and then balance it moving up the system?

What does the static pressure look like now for the supply at the plenum after this?

In this trade if you’re properly writing your tickets and billing $4000 is nothing it’s like buying a latte in the morning with a danish. When you have all the right equipment and you come in behind another contractor who could not take care of the customer, especially if they had multiple contractors . Who were all old-school and hand-O-meater 🤚 And beer can cool method And 500 ft.² per ton After the customer sees you correct and fix their problem . And then the customer understand they were ripped off Guess who they will never be calling again never be recommending and badmouthing And they will be calling, even though you are much more more expensive than They will talk about their family and coworkers . You get more advertising for free And because you were so expensive, they will only recommend you to their expensive friends who can afford you like themselves because they know the cheaper people cannot so they weeded out the bad customers, and you only get the fruit and cherry pick your jobs Itself, perpetuating, revenue, income, investment knowledge, and proper use of tools

I dont see the value, over 20 years without it and no one complaints about our duct designs. You will never get the heat load numbers perfect because heat load is constantly changing, so matching your numbers to the paper doesnt have much value. You just need your duct system designed by someone with experience, a manual damper on a residential duct system is usually a sign of bad design. This is gimmicky and a fad that won't be around long in my opinion, I see the comment section and the chosen pinned comment but I'm not trolling. Its being done for comfort and if your designs are that far off you need to stop and reevaluate everything your doing. Good Luck
