what's the point of rotating the cup of tea before drinking it though?
@mozartjpn1378 жыл бұрын
The patten/design is usually asymmetric. You rotate the cup, and appriciate the design.
@kaitlyncleary34248 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't get that. Your drinking the tea. The point of having tea is to drink it. Shouldn't be about the cup. The it would take too long to drink the tea
@mozartjpn1378 жыл бұрын
+Katie on the GO I love girls with beautiful dresses and without.
@BeesAndButtercups8 жыл бұрын
well you don't do the rotating stuff when you just pour yourself a brew for breakfast. But for the tea ceremony it's the whole package that makes up the experience. You eat wagashi and get your tea served in cups specifically selected to match the current season, you dress up all fancy and even the rooms tea ceremonies are held in are designed and decorated with this special experience in mind :) It's quite fun, I recommend trying it out at least once if you ever have the chance.

In other countries usually people wear gloves when they prepare food/sweets for you, but I guess it is kind of hard to make these kinds of sweets or even sushi while wearing gloves.
@Helvetica098 жыл бұрын
And also gloves are less hygienic than freshly washed hands :)
@rezam60608 жыл бұрын
I hope they are, I used to work in restaurants and they are scary.
@mandas6778 жыл бұрын
+Helvetica09 How so? I tried googling it, but I wasn't able to find anything to support that. Source?
@Helvetica098 жыл бұрын
+mandas677 that is what we learned :P gloves come out of non-sterile factories and when you open a package of them the box lays around and collecty bakteria and dust. When you wash your hands you remove the bakterie and when you santize them even better. Of course sterile gloves are cleaner than hands :)
@stargirl76468 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking about this. It always seems like in chain restaurants or bakeries (like where I work) they are SUPER strict about always wearing gloves. But it seems like the fancier the restaurant, the less they wear gloves? It's weird to me, but I guess they must just wash their hands very well!

I don't think it's all made of bean paste, is it? I know the first one had anko inside, which is the red filling in the first wagashi, but I didn't see any anko in any of the others. Also, I can not imagine how anyone could actually eat anko and dislike it. I'm sure people might think it's gross without trying it, but once you actually eat it, it should be physically impossible to dislike.

Hi Grace, am wondering is Houston Texas a diverse and inclusive place? For example, I've heard that NY is diverse, but not as inclusive as San Francisco, and Chicago is diverse but social groups still tend to be "segregated" or mingle amongst themselves. My friend said when he visited San Francisco, it was a true melting pot, and you never felt like an outsider no matter what ethnic background. How is Houston Texas compared to San Fran say?
