The flower deserts almost look to pretty and sugary sweet to eat. Did Ryouske ever ask the old man from the prefecture, (or did the old man ever explain) why in traditional tea ceremony you turn the tea clockwise before sipping and counter clock wise after?

Wow, that looks amazing. I think I'd be too nervous to go to such a traditional place with my sparse smattering of Japanese. I really want to try though (I love Japanese food, especially the sweets). Maybe I can take my best friend (she's currently teaching English in Tokyo), and see if she can translate a bit. Or maybe I'll just drag her to that other sweets place you and Ryo-san suggested in Ueno. Either way, I have to go back to Tokyo.

Wow. What beautiful desserts. You have to appreciate all the detail work that goes into them. The restaurant has such a nice look to it too. It creates a really relaxing environment. I think I'd really like it there. Also is that green tea that is super green like that macha, which is a more potent version of green tea? Am I correct in thinking this?

well you don't do the rotating stuff when you just pour yourself a brew for breakfast. But for the tea ceremony it's the whole package that makes up the experience. You eat wagashi and get your tea served in cups specifically selected to match the current season, you dress up all fancy and even the rooms tea ceremonies are held in are designed and decorated with this special experience in mind :) It's quite fun, I recommend trying it out at least once if you ever have the chance.

+mandas677 that is what we learned :P gloves come out of non-sterile factories and when you open a package of them the box lays around and collecty bakteria and dust. When you wash your hands you remove the bakterie and when you santize them even better. Of course sterile gloves are cleaner than hands :)
@stargirl7646
@stargirl7646 8 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking about this. It always seems like in chain restaurants or bakeries (like where I work) they are SUPER strict about always wearing gloves. But it seems like the fancier the restaurant, the less they wear gloves? It's weird to me, but I guess they must just wash their hands very well!

I don't think it's all made of bean paste, is it? I know the first one had anko inside, which is the red filling in the first wagashi, but I didn't see any anko in any of the others. Also, I can not imagine how anyone could actually eat anko and dislike it. I'm sure people might think it's gross without trying it, but once you actually eat it, it should be physically impossible to dislike.

Hi Grace, am wondering is Houston Texas a diverse and inclusive place? For example, I've heard that NY is diverse, but not as inclusive as San Francisco, and Chicago is diverse but social groups still tend to be "segregated" or mingle amongst themselves. My friend said when he visited San Francisco, it was a true melting pot, and you never felt like an outsider no matter what ethnic background. How is Houston Texas compared to San Fran say?
