At 1:17, you have to be so damn powerful to pull that off. Even Coach Manning is looking around like “WTF, did y’all just see that too?” 🤣 I absolutely love it when guys really open it up and let their offense fly. What a great wrestling match. Just full of gorgeous technical wrestling 🙏🏼

Yeah, you do(for sure its probably=to 300 poundsof pressureor more) but...it's more about being able to get your fet set and under you. JB made a mistake there. Gotta be pressuring that lower leg so he can't get comfortable. But other than Baseball, there may be no sport where it's easier to SAY what a guy should do and tougher to actually do it. Like...if you could watch yourself wrestling from different angle, you'd always score. I swear, that was Spencer Lee's super power. He's a little 125. He's not super quick...for the level, or strong. He just always(almost) seems to turn the right way when someone's trying to pass an ankle or...whatever. These guy, all the Greats have that preternatural feel that most of us...just didn't. Jordan lost it for a second, but he found it!

At 11:32 Jordan Burroughs goes for another underhook from the knees and this time when the Belarusian tries to shuck him with the overhook the way he did a minute earlier Burroughs allows him to do that so he can catch the back leg and then switch to a double. That's one of the best IQ moments in wrestling.
@Hugh-Jorgan Жыл бұрын
I dont know if that's planned off of the earlier move or just part of the scramble of not wanting or letting him get that shuck by off on him twice. Jordans speed and quickness has been one of his strengths through the years and when you watch that in slow motion its still fast as shit. Seriously amazing.
@eugenymalo8704 Жыл бұрын
@@Hugh-Jorgan 100% planned. The previous shuck just a minute earlier from the same position cost him 2 points and 2 more points from the gut wrench. When was the last time somebody gut wrenched Jordan? So he had to risk it knowing this could happen again but also giving him the opportunity to score his own shot.
@zenly_csgo Жыл бұрын
nah this time conditioning mattered. Belarussian just weared off to pull own right leg in time. He stands flat footed He had no legs second time. but for me most amazing part was 1st shug - first time i saw this against JB
@Hugh-Jorgan Жыл бұрын
@@eugenymalo8704 I disagree. I've watched it at 4 different speeds. It doesn't look like it's intentional. Looks more like a scramble that he quickly changed gears on before he got beat twice on same move. Obviously he learns from his mistakes that's part of being great.

Honestly not sure how I feel about this call at the end. Nurykau obviously made a dumb move by rolling himself over, which should objectively be 2, but technically Burroughs was the first to put his hand out of bounds, granted he was grounded while doing so. If Burroughs technically placed his hand out of bounds before Nurykau rolled, would the 2 then not count as they would be ruled outside? If so there would have been 20 seconds or so left to wrestle, as of course we all know Burroughs has no problem scoring in those scenarios. Still just seems like a strange call, and yea probably one of Jordan's craziest matches.

Why do guys from Central and Southeastern Europe have such shit conditioning? Hell, even some guys from the Middle East do too. JB is walking around just fine, meanwhile Nurykau is dying. He's flopping all around the mat, lying down, etc. Remember when Yianni was down 9-0 or smth to that effect to Musukaev at the Yasar Dogu, but Musukaev forgot how to stand up in the 2nd period?
@falty2580 Жыл бұрын

It seems like some of the Easter European wrestlers pout more when things don't go there way. I know this is a generalization. But I do think the US representatives normally handle themselves very well, even when calls don't go there way. I think this match is an example of what's wrong with wrestling. Jordan clearly pushed the pace and was on offense throughout this match. Yet the European was ahead most the match because of the big move early on. I think back points in this manner go against the spirit of wrestling. That is why folk wrestling is superior. Having to hold a guy down to get back points is much tougher than simply briefly turning a guy. I do like the push out rule. I wish college wrestling would take out the danger points and install push outs. And perhaps change the riding time point. In college there are too many wrestlers who ride to ride and not to pin. They just try to rack up time. And then when the bottom wrestler goes for a reversal the bottom guy can be nearly in control, yet the riding time still adds up until he is in full control. So many times guys were in the process of getting reversals when the ref called out of bounds or stalemate. And then they have to set up all over again. I think the riding time is broken. Maybe a better fix to riding time would be to only count the time the bottom wrestler is on his elbows?
@briancobbin1412 Жыл бұрын
We need to understand folkstyle only exists n the US and only for children. Other than college u can't wrestle a folkstyle tournament as a grown man. And the world will never do folkstyle. We don't even do it n the states as men. US should b better than everyone. Why aren't we. Folkstyle
@loganleroy86229 ай бұрын
You earn riding time in college because it’s so hard to hold someone down at that level. Riding for riding’s sake isn’t what’s going on. You’re actively tiring your opponent out so they are more gassed if/when they get back to their feet, and you are scoring a point. You can’t really entertain trying to turn a guy before you’ve broken him down. I get the feeling you didn’t wrestle in college, or you’d realize why riding time exists.
