As someone who doesn’t follow wrestling at all, WWE not being a combat sport has pushed me away from NCAA wrestling. It was only once I started training MMA and jiu jitsu that I really respected the wrestlers. The number of matches they compete in, the cardio + scramble, and the grappling knowledge are huge strengths. I’ve started watching a lot of wrestling now and it’s definitely helping my ground game.

@@patrickranes9998 I agree. I see why they think that, but if you look at it his arm is not deep enough to punch. Folkstyle is definitely a different game than freestyle, way more grappling, seems more physical. But I'll be honest it also seems harder to watch somehow.
@fangiscool13 жыл бұрын
The grappling is what makes it harder to watch. Top and bottom wrestling is boring, imo. Both watching and actually wrestling. A lot more hand fighting that doesnt lead anywhere in folkstyle. Freestyle would put them on the shot clock in a lot of those situations. Folkstyle let's you slow everything down by using the edge of the mat and out of bounds to your advantage too. Something is different about the takedowns that work in freestyle's favor that I cant describe too

@madwitchdoctor72162 жыл бұрын
Folk is a lot grittier than freestyle is why it seems slower. A lot more dirty tactics are legal so you have to be hard to score on. They score cheaper moves in freestyle is the main difference is why it seems faster pace as well. More incentive to stay on the attack.
@e2go Жыл бұрын
😂😂You've got to be joking? Freestyle is incredibly referee subjective with ridiculous rules that constantly change. Folkstyle you have to be able to wrestle on your feet, on top and get out from bottom. It's also easily the best preparation for MMA out of any wrestling style because it focuses on getting someone down and keeping them there as well as working your way to your feet or reversing from bottom. It's a ten times more logical and exciting sport than freestyle, which is why the NCAA Championships EASILY outdraw any freestyle event on the planet, including the Olympics ffs😂
