Oscar De La Hoya giving Floyd his reverence is all you need to hear and should definitely put to rest whatever distain people have for Floyd Mayweather. Let’s be clear. Oscar De La Hoya was HIM when he was at his prime. When I was a kid it was him and Roy Jones Jr that was dominating. Pacquiao didn't hurt Oscar with one punch, but he was picking Oscar apart with volume punching, and if that fight were allowed to continue, Oscar's face would have been beaten to a pulp, and he would have surely been KO'd eventually. And his fight with Hopkins?? Hopkins DID hurt Oscar with one punch. If that's not the definition of getting hurt in a boxing match, then I honestly don't know what is...

Oscar fought tougher opponents than Floyd. Oscar is a real legend, too.

Canelo and pac and Oscar werent tough enough? Because that is who Floyd ran thru....Perhaps it was tougher for Oscar because he wasnt as good as Floyd so maybe you have a point...lol

Floyd vs De La Hoya happened in May 2007. Floyd fought Ricky Hatton 7 months later in December 2007. Oscar's story doesn't check out.

7 months doesn't equal 1 year though. 12 months is 1 year. I hope everyone knows this.

@therealestj exactly. Oscar is saying that Floyd retired for a year after their fight, but it's not true cause Floyd fought Hatton 7 months later.

They probly gave him the Hatton fight and he did 'retire' and even cried after the Hatton fight for 'retiring'
