It was hearing Warren’s playing on By A Thread that inspired me to pick up a guitar. I had played bass for years in other peoples working bands, but when I heard Warren, it was a light bulb moment. Knew I had to do something for myself. Coming on 10 years now, I’ve been “impersonating a guitarist” :-) It’s all about making songs your own. Too many soulless performances of covers. I’d rather do someone else’s song in my own peculiar style.

@ReyegAwee - As a former club performer & lifelong musician, I not only heartily agree, but I can tell you, "drunks in clubs are a buncha rude f*cks." David Crosby famously (during a performance here in Seattle at the Paramount theater) told the ass hats in the audience who were hooting & hollering "Shut the hell UP! Or WE'RE LEAVING! There are people here who paid good money who can't hear BECAUSE OF YOUR OBNOXIOUS ASSES!" My friend who was there said "People shut UP & showed some respect." RIP David Crosby. I wish US audiences weren't such a bunch of rude asses. But "wish in one hand & crap in the other & see which one fills up 1st."

The experience blew me away and turned me into a lifelong blues fan. I’m a truck driver and I’ve been all over the South. Many of the small Mississippi basin towns have a sign as you drive in and they are very proud of their musician sons and daughters. Nowadays, I read the name and immediately hop online to listen to their music. You cannot imagine the rapture I’ve experienced this way. Government Mule plays the best covers, IMO.

It's perfect. It rolls out down and off of his pain torn heart. Etta felt it enough to put those raw feelings down on paper, and though many have attempted few have succeeded But these Gov" t mule guys have perfected it I stand mezmorized

whoa! I knew by the look of the image this was going to be a great cover: a full bodied white man with long hair and Gibson...that has to be a recipe for some good blues. Anyone that can take a 2 minute song and do a 10 minute cover deserves props! He really owned that song. Gov't Mule has a new fan

I will she'd many tears when this guy decides to hang it up or worse.....leaves this world. Such a master of the craft. Simplistic greatness. What's it's all about. The right note, the right dynamic, the right feel. Live is where it's at with this group. From the first time I saw them at the Cotton Club in 1996. Look that show up. The entire show is on KZbin. There were about 300 people at that show and I was stage right. 10 feet from Warren. The soldano amp was soooooooo tasty.
