I bought a 5.1 set from this company when they first started advertising in the US. I don't know where they are made today but mine are made in Canada. I was a bit skeptical because the price was $289 with FREE SHIPPING back then, approx. 7 years ago. Banana inputs and super quality materials. I was blown away by the quality and the price. I thought they might be stolen or something when I first got them because the price was more representative of a cheap set of speakers, yet the quality was unreal. The sound and clarity, as well as the power handling capabilities is even more of a mind blower. Suffice it to say I still use these babies on a day-to-day basis and man are they crystal clean with mean bass punch. Thank you Fluance. Astounding.

Yeah I had to plug one of the ports to calm the bass and resonances in my room. I really like the warm contrast of these affordable compared to my main system that has the much brighter b&w speakers. Randy, HT center channels are intended for movie dialog only to firmly position people speaking on the screen. Since human speech ranges from 300 to 3000 Hertz the center channels do not need to go below that range for movies. But if you like to play music with the center channel, the speaker still doesn't need to go below about a 100Hz because we cannot localize low bass frequencies anyway. The 35Hz low end cutoff is below the fundamental frequency of the low E string of a 4 string bass (41Hz) so for most music a subwoofer isn't needed. This is why I prefer towers to bookshelves as it is better to spend money on a tower speaker that you don't need stands or subwoofers to listen to music generally. If you like to listen to electronic music or songs with a 5 string bass with the low B string at 31Hz, or movies with LFE, then a sub is needed.

Randy.....you are a BadA$$ speaker reviewer! Total commitment, still managed to do the reviews and post them during a blizzard, 🌨 and total power loss!!🔌🔋 AND... I remember requesting you to review these Fluance XL8F towers, and you actually did it for us!! Thanks, dude...you rock🤘"almost" as hard as those speakers do, lol.🔊 You deserve the most success, rewards and recognition. I'm a fan. It'd be fun to have a drink with you and talk sound, haha.🍺 Keep it up man, I know you will.👍 Btw, I like seeing the speakers in your listening space. It was nice that you changed it up a bit. I believe I'll eventually order a pair of these towers. I think they're a pretty great value. Love the high-end look, especially the Walnut, which is what I'll get. I greatly appreciate your input, just adds to all the solid reviews for Fluance. I've also considered the Definitive Technology BP9040. Kinda similar design w/ the sub and MTM, but it's a powered sub instead. And rear-facing mids/tweeters too. They're more than double the price of these, but maybe one day when they go on sale again, (at Amazon/or BB) I'll grab a pair. They're quite phenomenal. Could be worth the higher cost. Bi-polar/direct reflecting design for sound staging/imaging/live performance sound. I've heard them in person and was impressed. The BP9040 line is a "similar" design to the VINTAGE Bose 501s and 901s (which I own both pair). DefTech basically copied the Bose design and probably tried to "improve" or make their version slightly "different than Bose." I'm talking when Bose WAS amazing quality...BEFORE the early-mid 90s, when they totally screwed up and started making the cube satellites and space-saving junk! Mass-marketing just to sell the NAME, not quality sound anymore. So that's why "so many" audiophiles HATE Bose. The haters don't truly understand the earlier days of the Bose 501, 601, & 901 models. If they did, they wouldn't hate them. In my opinion, some of the BEST speakers ever made. Power them with quality amp and equalization, and it's "Hi-Fi Heaven" in your living room! I own a lot of speakers too and I'm always buying more. The goal is to make the music sound as "live" as possible (Soundstage/imaging/realistic bass/vocals/etc). But true live sound is never perfect, btw. That's why reflected sound (like with Bose or DefTech designs) is so realistic/similar to a live performance. Close your eyes and the performers are in your room. Maybe not "perfect" in terms of spec sheets, but the sound is everywhere all around you (in just 2-channel). So how they sound is what matters vs numbers. Too many sound enthusiasts listen with their EYES👀 on the specs, not with their EARS!!👂Numbers don't produce sound, people do, with instruments/vocals/effects, etc. To me, speakers are just instruments performing the music or movie. We all know that's an amazing experience when the speakers truly 'disappear' and you're in the center of the performance. Goosebump moments, lol. That's what defines a quality speaker to me. But room acoustics at concerts are usually terrible....and quite deafening, that you can't distinguish what you're hearing. Just painful noise, sometimes! So I can make the concert sound "better" in my own house, and my ears won't be bleeding and ringing when I leave the room.📢🙉 Anyway, sorry for my extended 2 cents.🤑 You are the real deal, man!

Right now my ceiling is $600. I do have the Emotiva T1+ at $700 though. I've also reviewed a Marantz Receiver at $800. However, the Marantz is a streamer, an av 7 channel receiver, and can run as a 2 channel integrated amp. With that in mind, it still represents a high value. I will be reviewing some higher priced gear but my focus is and always will be products that fall under the $600 mark with an occasional higher priced product I think is still high value. To your point, I have spent the most recent month on products that are hovering around my ceiling. Rest assured I'm getting back to my roots though and have a lot of products coming in significantly less expensive. I'm basically doing the opposite of most channels that do higher priced items and occasionally a lower priced product.

You could just run these 2 ch between your tv and leave out the center. The jbl stage a170 are 400 a pair and don’t need a center.

Glad to hear you're a 2 channel guy when listening to music. Thought it was just me getting weirded out by the centre channel. It's so funny hearing you say "Hey I'm Randy". In Australia saying you're randy means you're feeling horny. 😆😆

oh yeah. maybe I need to start saying Randall for my Australian and UK viewers
