I do not share your opinion. It seems to me that it's quite overacted, a bit too goofy, it is very much in the vein of Adam West's Batman. There is an air like from the movie Mary Poppins. The Robin Williams remake improves this movie.

I know they were trying to re-create a new version of the scene from the first film, but in that original sequence, Ashton thought he was being chased by a flying creature, so it made sense why he'd keep on driving like a madman. Here, it doesn't make a lick of sense. Stop the car.
