Tragically, it wasn’t always that way. Boeing used to have an unrivaled reputation for extremely high and rigorous engineering standards. But once management became ‘PowerPoint/Excel engineers’ focused on bean counting and DEI it became not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ failures would occur in production aircraft.

Just looking at the engine and the tiny components and wires it has, working together perfectly for decades, shows how far we have come. And its just a part of the aircraft. I cant even begin to imagine the complexity of whole of the aircraft with its wiring to the control section, its microprocessors made up of billions of nano transistors all working together so nicely. A380 is the best airplane ever made, in fact it's the only airplane I feel comfortable for long journeys. Cabin pressure, toilet size, silence, vibe of being inside an airship... is just perfect. The big problem with the A380 is landing at Birmingham, UK with a nearly full plane and two other flights landing around the same time. The terminal was swamped, Emirates limo service were calling asking where I got to. Now whether the other two flights were late or early I don't know. Emirates choice of business seating on the A380 is streets ahead of their choice on the B777 which is more of a coffin.

A plane before it’s time but also superseded by newer materials and construction methods. With airports being squeezed for space and slots, the A380 or a modern equivalent may have its time again. New engine designs for efficiency and noise may yet make it possible to design it as a 2 engine aircraft. The double decker approach throughout the plane gives much more space for even economy class. And we await the review by the US aviation safety people on seat size. If the case is well made for wider seats and more leg room in economy on the grounds of safety, then many of the current planes will fail.

Had this plane been around the same years as 747 (55) which sold about 1500 units.... It would've surely outsold it. A380 sold 255 units in just 14 years... And keep in mind that many 747s are cargo only, they also are both in commercial as well as military A380 during its 14 years of service has never had an incident where a passenger was injured let alone die. Clearly written by someone who hasn’t travelled on an A380 and 747. The A380 is incredibly quiet inside and outside. No Boeing airplane is as good as the A380 for passenger experience in any class. The 777 is noisy, the Dreamliner much better but not in the same class as the 380. And my qualifications for saying this; over 70 flights on the A380, 50 on 777s, 20 on Dreamliner and 2 on A350, 12 on 747.
