Vile Nilotic Rites and Make Them Beg for Death are some of my recent favorites from Mark. The bass tone on Make Them Beg for Death is amazing. Huge amount of bass on that record that doesn't get muddy. Just stays punchy. Trying to recreate it gave me even more appreciation for it. It's gotta be just right or it all falls apart.

Totally agree on Tony Iommi and oddly enough, The Mob Rules is my favorite overall Sabbath album. As well, this video had me hooked at the mention of Diabolus, love the guitar tone on that album and its among my favorite Slayer albums after Seasons and South of Heaven.

Totally agree with the Slayer tone. That album, especially Death's Head and Stain of Mind, influenced a lot of the first riffs I wrote with my first "band" with a buddy in high school. Just a pissed off kid connecting with an album that I thought sounded like the world was ending and I was okay with it. I'd blast it while playing Left 4 Dead with friends cause it felt like it was made for an apocalyptic setting.

Regarding the Mob Rules guitar tone... - Marshall Super Lead 1959 This amp was modified by John “Dawk” Stillwell, who designed a new circuit for it that included an extra tube and a master gain control. The amp was used on Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules albums.

I appreciate what Mark said about the 2005-2008 Mesa Cabs with V30s and how he made a career off of those things, despite Glenn Fricker's hatred of those speakers. I have a 2007 Mesa cab with V30s and I love the way it sounds. It just goes to show that guitar tone is subjective. Everyone has their own preferences and likes/dislikes.

Don't agree with Mark's take on Rhoads. Think the impact of RR's playing/sound, technique, and style during his short time with Ozzy is astounding. With the exception of rockers/metal heads, pertaining to basic/general public; Crazy Train will be more recognizable against anything Iommi did. A regular "joe/sally" most likely won't even know RR passed. Side note: favorite work that Mark was a part of is with Trivium/TBDM.
