Your commentary on the people of Saudi Arabia was done with warmth and humor but you provided a positive and open portrait of them as a people. when she was in the hospital, i started chatting with one of my wife's nurses. a wonderful example of her craft. she was a navy wife, and recently returned to the US after several years at Rota, Spain. i described different lands i'd visited in EU, and she asked, "what was your favorite?" Scotland with it's fishing in the lochs, Spain with it's fabulous beaches, and of course, Ireland with the most beautiful greens graced to the earth. i told her "after so long away from home, returning and see the stars and stripes waving, my favorite is This One. the United States. India is awesome. I lived there for more than 5 years a long time ago. It was the best time of my life. It's certainly not without it's problems, but you can still have a truly terrific time if you're open to it. I have so many crazy stories....lol Your speaking of traffic in India reminded me that it's one of the only places on the planet where you will drive your car, windows up, no A/C, 110-120 degree heat. I found out the hard way if you roll your window down, it's like a blast furnace and will, LITERALLY, suck the breath out of you to the point of near suffocation...LOL I had a 1972 Gremlin (no a/c) shipped over there...believe me...I know. The fun started when it was delivered to my home, in a big box, on a wagon, pulled by oxen. Don't ask how they got it opened and down from the wagon.

Not necessarily. Just last week I sat for an hour on I-75 south of Atlanta without moving more than a couple of miles. Four lanes across, the traffic was at a standstill. Finally, we passed the remains of an accident which had been moved onto the shoulder but which apparently caused thousands of drivers to slow down and gawk. No one needed to stop and help since emergency vehicles were on the scene, but the rubberneckers had to see what was going on and hold up traffic for a solid hour.

If I learned anything from Gabriel's report is that looks can be deceiving. I didn't realize how American I must really be--if you are paying attention to the conduct, ways, and mannerisms of people that shows who there really are but no simply the color of their skin, facial features, nor appearances. And as it turns out the people of India are often debating as whether or not after being victimized by the British for decades as to whether or not it is a shame or something they are proud of that the current 'Prime minister' of Briton is a Indian.
