I can give you a tip on how to make a powerful Automaton You need: Laser Gatling (both arms) Sentry arm (both arms) Protectron head (basilisk armour for knockdown ability) Protectron torso Assaultron legs. Voltaic armour on legs arms and torso. Misc mod (Regen field) (I used this combo and my automaton took out the ENTIRE BOS without me pulling the trigger once)

If you aim your scoped gun at the robots with the robotics perk, you can cause robots to explode or fight from you from far distances. You can essentially finish this entire quest without firing a single bullet

regarding the rouge robots, you'd figure the commonwealth would take care of them on its own wouldn't you what with raiders, Gunners, Minutemen, the Brotherhood, misc wildlife, the Railroad, and Ghouls not to mention the new robot hunting Rust Devils those rouge bots would be hard pressed to survive without a home base to report to for repairs.

androot69. hack perk, in the fight you can hack them and they self destruct in this fight, massive damage to other bots Also if you open all the doors with ada they stay open, and if you collect the 3 supervisor tapes, leave, grab nick valentine, come back and let him hack a terminal right inside the robot...security checkpoint, play the supervisor tapes at that terminal to unlock the elevator to unlock it and skip the fight entirely, the elevator goes straight to the mainframe, and there's some interesting lines from the mechanist...lol yea i skiped the robot fight entirely lol

We don't know that he was the first, only that he was the first that we had encountered. There could be hundreds of Mechanist's out there, yet we've only met two. Also, I think Bethesda was just going for the "Le EpiC Pl0T twisT XD" effect more than anything else, which ultimately seems to have failed.

Always quicksave before a persuasion attempt. If you fail, go to the quicksave and try again. Fail again? Repeat until yoj succeed.
