‌A hollow shaft is subjected to steady bending moment of 40 N-m and twisting moment of 50 M-m. Outer diameter of shaft is twice the inside diameter. Calculate diameter of shaft using ASME code for transmission shaft on the basis of maximum shearing stress theory of failure. Take : yield point stress in tension of shaft material=280Mpa , factor of safety=2.0 , combined bending and fatigue shock factor=1.5, combined shock and fatigue factor for twisting=1.0
