Many moons ago I managed to split my rim, before disc brakes were even on the scene, I guess that's why there are ware indicators. I hope it's easy to find a bike shop, it is important to use the original spokes as they are Rohloff designed for the hub as far as I've been told. How are your new cycling shoes fairing up on your Tour.

I never even heard of wear indicators until this happened. In any case there don't appear to be any on the old rim. The new shoes are great. They allow my feet to breathe more than the old ones.

@@TimsTrikeTrips you've worn the indicator away perhaps, normally a shallow groove runs around the centre of the braking cente,, but normally you wouldn't use the Parking brake on the rear, it induces Skiddy barouchies, and you end up the wrong way round, or off!

Oh no.......😮. I hope you got it sorted so that the adventure can continue. You’ve travelled some miles , so I assume a problem of some sort would present itself , but hopefully all is now well with trinny and the trip continues.

Yes I don't think a tour can go as far without some mechanical issues. It's the nature of the beast. I also think things could have been far far worse. I could have been 50 miles out in the countryside for starters 🤷‍♂️

Oeps, what a cliffhanger to end this vlog. But (spoiler) since you are still on the road, I guess it ended well. Tim, have you any idea how many km (or miles) in total you already have spend on Trinny so far? And how old is she?

She's 7 years old, mine from new. I'm afraid I never kept a total count of the miles/km. A few thousand to be sure.

@@TimsTrikeTrips heading home this morning. I got a great night's sleep and enjoyed a mixed grill for supper last night. I'm going now before the rain comes. Was in bushes 300 metres from a pub and houses- they packed up around 11pm I think 🤔 I've just seen a barn owl and a vixen - separately of course finding food.

A most unusual disaster, you don't have a rim brake on the back wheel do you, apart from a parking brake. I have had rim failures, because of rim brakes worn the rim..So evidently a fault. You are in a sticky situation ,as sticky as Sticky the stick insect stuck in syrup ! Hopefully there's a bike shop that can rebuild your rear wheel , but with the Rholhoff , hub ,could be sticky. * Just stuck for words !

As sticky as a sticky thing on planet sticky. Yes the rear wheel has rim brakes. 🤷‍♂️

@@geraldturner9297originaly my trike had rimbrakes on the back as well. I replaced them with a diskbrake a few years ago. Never imagined rim failure could be an issue until this story.

@@TimsTrikeTrips oh, I don't have one in my Azub, deliberately 'deleted' , coz of handling errors, lock up the rear brake ,you find your going the other direction! It's supposed to be used only as a parking brake. I just use a strap on the front brake to park.
