Unbelievable. I been fishing this pier for years and cant catch anything besides searobin. This guy just comes in and catches all the fluke!

I think my issue is that I cannot cant cast such light jigs far enough. My cheapo rod and reel will cast 10 meters away at best. I need a very heavy sinker to match your casting distance..

Never remember spot fish ( croakers) being so abundant in Jamaica bay! But I remember spending hours to catch 1 bluefish lol . Great video brotha, definitely a fan!

@Hitman023 Years ago, I don't remember catching any croaker in these waters. Where did they come from? Along with the "porgies" , we would infrequently catch a fish we would call a " lafayette." I remember catching an abundant amount of small "whiting" and "ling" in the old days at the Coney Island pier.

"Got em!!!" Indeed... Another banger..thanks for sharing! Ever think about using a pier net? They're cumbersome but help when fishing from bridges and piers

I got one, its just a pain to bring around on my bicycle. I wanna get one of the folding ones just not sure if its worth it. I use a rubber glove or if its a beast I'll walk it to shore

@BobAquatic Yeah, when we have one of the trucks and are bridge fishing, we bring it now, after losing some chunky ones. One guy we know uses a milk crate with a 1lb weight..But I may get one of the folding ones too..

I’ve got a normal non inshore gcx rated to 5/8s of an ounce, would that be too light even for light fluking ?

That’s a great rod for fluke fishing light tackle, you can go a little over the rated lure weight on the Loomis rods

Great video! Have you ever gotten snags here? I’ve used a 3 ounce bank sinker and it happened multiple times on this pier(might be from all the rocks at the bottom). But I may try your jig setup

NYC is one huge snag zone. I would say coney is one of the least snaggy places of all of them. Keep your line tight, don't let it scope out and drag bottom in the current. Mussels will often close on a line that brushes up against it

@@BobAquatic yep, just for if you find yourself in florida, dont mix up the jack crevalle with the amberjack. Amberjack is a deeep water offshore fish generally. I sounded like an idiot calling them amberjacks for days a few years ago.
