Well yeah, someone had definitely had a similar idea to you before. As long as you aren't doing something wholly 1:1 for the sake of trying to seem original it's fine. The point of remakes is to understand how something is made

It's actually a great example of the Collection Conscience working in perfect harmony for optimal evolutionary results. And when the intention of the individual being pure in nature-and I'd say personal growth leading to finding one's unique self along the way most definitely is pure than there is no need in associating this method of learning with any negative ideas like copying someone else's work whatsoever. ❤ I absolutely love Flume.

Of course he can say things like that from the position that he's in. I have spent three years copying Flume and got pretty close to his sound, but i do not put my music up. It just feels wrong. There is nothing in it that i came up with, it doesn't have any value. This is a good piece of advice and the most fun way to improve your production skills, but i guess some people are just destined to a life of copying...

be careful though, he's talking specifically about starting out. He's saying too many people skip over this step, but you shouldn't do this when you get to the point of releasing a project.
