FFF 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 good evening, meine liebe Freundin! It was so nice, as long as I stayed out of the breeze, but it was great to get the orchids out to flush. I don't like seeing what the birds are leaving behind in my pots, but, that has been their fertilizer for the winter 😅 they have been spending the night with the orchids the past weeks, because they too did not like the cold outdoors. I take off Xyliano's cover in the mornings, and sometimes I have 2, sometimes 3 birds waiting to be 'let out'! They have figured out that I close the door at x hour, and then in the morning, I do not open the curtain to the terrace door in the living room, but the door is open. So, the first thing they do is fly to the living room, check that there are no dogs around, then they hop on to the floor, and hop out through the door. 😆 I assume they call their friends, because, once the curtain is open, their day in the house begins, and the recycling of the seeds that Xyliano doesn't like starts. I don't have one bird ... I have 6! While they are resting during the day, they hang out in the corner of the east side, where the bougainvillea is. That appears to be the warmest spot when the sun shines. Oh, but the mess! 🤦🏼‍♀️ we tick off another day toward paradise, indeed! It was super windy today, it looked like it was going to rain, but thankfully that did not happen. We need to invent the Sun Dance. There is a rain dance, why is there no Sun Dance? 🤪 I babble!! That shot under the table gives the impression that some plants couldn't hold their water. 🤣. No, flushing is Not overated!! I noticed that my one Motes Pixie Dust that's greenish in color this time is super dark green with paler lip. 😘 We are still getting rain and cold winds here, but I'll take it ... Our ground water levels have been super low, but reservoirs are filling up, they've been talking about releasing water from them, but they still aren't full yet!! Early releases is what got us into a water shortage to begin with, let alone the drought. I trust you are feeling better...!! 👍🏻 I shall catch you on the flip side kiddo..... 🦇

I went to bed early, just to make sure my wheels did not come off next day 🙏🏼 but, you put a smile on my face first thing this morning when I read your comment 'plants couldn't hold their water' 🤪🤣🤣 a great way to start my day, thank you for making that happen and thank you for watching. You know my take on the importance of flushing, so... being biased, I appreciate your confirmation 😉 and I cannot believe that people would want to release water! After all these years of drought, those reservoirs a NO where NEAR being full! What are they thinking?? Its crazy 🤦🏼‍♀️ who is in charge? These people ... I just don't understand their 'logic' 🙄 if authorities were planning to do that here, people would be in their offices protesting to stop them from being ridiculous 🙄 (and it works!) every elected official here is scared of passing gas the wrong way in case that would result in them not being elected again 😂 hope your day is going fabYOUlously for you, my BFF ❤️🌸

Andrea, hi 🥰💐 most of them are looking ok! I am somewhat relieved, so... the next load of orchid needs flushing, but I have to replenish the water bucket first, then the other 50% get their flush. I don't bother flushing. Saves a lot of time. But am still treating a bunch of them. My latest treatment isn't working after I was told it would - big surprise. More expensive stuff ordered yet again. ps: It's snowing and freezing over here. Really horrible weather.

Hi Nina,with temperature at 38 degree Celsius and since I grow my orchids outside and many of them mounted I'm flushing daily either in well water or rain harvested water .The daily flushing is needed for at least two months.Happy growing and gardening Amiga Mia Nina.

So I got a cattleya chantilly lace today, but the weather is still pretty cold - 10c here I bought it as a orchid in bloom. If you or anyone has some tips to hopefully keep these buds to come through this so I don't loose them. I really hope that I can save the new buds.

Hi Sandie 🥰💐 congratulations on your new beautiful orchid!! I have Chantilly Lace, but unfortunately she came in 'that' terrible order from the nursery that never got back to me etcetcetc, so, she is not as vigorous as a Chantilly Lace should be. There is one thing for sure, that I know about this orchid, and that is, she loves her calcium! One of her parents is Caularthron bicornutum, which I have, and that one is a Calcium lover if I have ever seen one. The bicornutum is by no means a large orchid, but that is misleading when it comes to the love of calcium it has. So, I would highly recommend to baby your Chantilly Lace with an extra does of CalMag. It won't guarantee that the buds won't blast, because of the other stressors, but it will sure be of help for the orchid to at least do her best to hold on to them and diminish the stressors to a degree. I hope that this helps, and wow, I really hope that you get to see and smell the blooms soon! Much deserved 🥳🥳 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady! I did a flush a couple weeks ago, for a change of pace. Who knows when the last time was? December maybe? Yeah, yeah, I know, bad habits. But if it ain't broke, amiright? Also, I can tell you're not at 100%, you called it Darwinara 'Blue Heaven' and put that on screen, rather than Dinard. For some reason I was thinking that it was a much taller plant than that, so maybe I won't be waiting 50 years to see blooms after all.

If it ain't broke, ... absolutely! 👍🏼 and it was exactly the Dinard / Darwinara 'Blue Heaven' mix up that had me bothered even during editing 😵‍💫 I couldn't figure out why it didn't sound right, and here you are 'nailed it!' and here I am, a day later, d'oooh!! For the life of me I could not pinpoint what was off in the commentary. Yep, my brain is not functioning, neither are my eyeballs 🤦🏼‍♀️ the DINARD 😅 stands at 11 inches from rhizome to the tip of a leaf. Maybe it can be bigger, but in my conditions that is what we get. Hope that your growths are already that size 👍🏼 just for comparison, tit for tat... your dowiana, what size is the largest leaf? @@NinjaOrchids well, the big dowiana is 13.5 inches (34.25 cm) from rhizome to tip of leaf. Not that it wants to bloom. I pulled it from its pot a few weeks ago and chopped off the back three bulbs and put it back in the pot, now it activated two dormant eyes.🙄

Soooo... I measure mine today and we are samesies when it comes to my leaves. My last 2 leaves are the same size you mention. Two dormant eyes? 😅 as if to say 'you think you can tame me? Hold my beer!' 😂
