I abandoned Flutter due to poor performance on iOS - the jank took way to long to fix and it's "reduced". Bahahaha

Anything that has better performance would require 10 times more lines of code using the native code.

@@fredagsfys Also you could get even better performance than programming in “native code” (Swift, Kotlin, Java) if you program in Assembly. But it would require 1000x your effort. All the choices you do have trade-offs. So Flutter is by far the best choice if you honestly think about the cost-benefit ratio.

It can be the best tool or framework human kind has ever seen, but that doesn’t take away the major issues with jank or “reduced” jank issues by now. Secondly you are really comparing apples with oranges, both Dart and respective native languages are “high level languages” in comparison with Assembly. It’s the framework that makes us more productive, having one shared, common code base. However, what is this all worth when basic animations are laggy and end users complain?

@@fredagsfys That’s not so different like you are saying. I use a lot of animations on my apps and if you are having so much trouble with that then probably you are using bad practices rebuilding more times than needed or not using repaint boundary and isolates when needed. If your code is clean and you are not building a 3D game engine with Flutter code then it won’t be so laggy like you are saying.

If you had done your due diligence you would have seen the qualifications to that. And they are pragmatic and make sense. If it had been a simple write once run anywhere, like Java UI, it would have failed in the attempt, like Java UI. There are historical experiences of trying to do run-once-run-anywhere and Flutter learned from that and works arguably the best to the greatest satisfaction of developers and users.

I don't see what you are talking about, you can compile to web, linux, windows, macos, ios and android without really needing to do anything different between the platforms, they are still lagging behind with video on desktop, also shaders on web and some other things, but for most usecases you don't need to change a single line of code for any of these platforms
