Very good idea of yours to create a competition. Beginners will be able to practice coding with this challenge. They will learn Flutter and have the chance to win a price at the same time. Thanks for contributing into this Flutter community Robert. ✌️

For sure, I will just be happy to see what people create, and hosting a competition for it just seemed fun!

Great way of cutting the video time by not typing while recording. Much appreciated!! But how is that thing done? UNDO the whole document line by line?

Nice work Robert this way beginners have an incentive to learn and explore the framework rather than being stuck in a tutorial hell it's amazing

What's the difference between Navigator.of(context).pop and Navigator.pop(context)?
@RobertBrunhage3 жыл бұрын
If you ctrl click on the "pop" in Navigator.pop(context) you will notice that it simply calls Navigator.of(context).pop() 😊

Robert, thank you for your great videos! I have learned a lot for the past 1 month I started learning Flutter. I have even started creating my first app and I am in a middle of it. However I would love to participate in your competition. I have 1 question - can a household budget app be categorized as net worth app? As currently my wife and me are tracking our finances in google sheet, so maybe I can build an app that can help us with that. Combining learning with something that we can use at home sounds great! :)) Thank you a lot!

I would like to keep it to this topic as it's easier for me to pick winners but I feel like this is a close enough topic, that I would say go for it!

For sure, and there are multiple different porject structures. For this one I didn't feel like that was the biggest focus but maybe a future video 😎

Is a invoice making app comes under the category (competition)? Because, I need a app like this, so.
@RobertBrunhage3 жыл бұрын
This competition I want everyone to make the app with the same category, in this case a net worth app. That way it's easier for me to judge as everyone has the same goal 😊
@vigneshaithal3 жыл бұрын
@@RobertBrunhage Ok, thanks sir. I will build net worth app.

So... lets create a new project 😂👍 I have one question: I am learning Flutter since December 2020 and finished a course of 50h in February 2021. Can I still enter this contest and include my previous experience, or would that be unfair to the people who are just learning Flutter with this video?
@RobertBrunhage3 жыл бұрын
Wishing you the best of luck! 😊

@@RobertBrunhage I did not expect you to answer so quickly xD Can you maybe still answer my question? 😅
@RobertBrunhage3 жыл бұрын
Sorry didn't see the question! Anyone can enter, but keep in mind I will notice the experience from the persons project and that will also be considered. So for example if someone with 1 year experience joins I expect A LOT more compared to a complete beginner 😊

@@RobertBrunhage Hey. Okay, thanks a lot. I think, even if I have "only" 4 months of active Flutter experience, I will do my best, because 25-100$ is not easy to miss ;)

a few issues: tough to understand at times, which makes it especially rough for someone watching this as a first intro to flutter. for example, "wiff" voiced, when it should be "wiDth". there are many more instances where the pronunciation caused confusion. also, explaining by showing the output while showing the code would be better, than just making statements / stating "it shows this, it does that" and such. another method that works better for teaching newcomers something new is working from the outside (the logical structure, visualized also) to the inside (detail), rather than the other way around; and in that respect, also not throwing everything into one file, but rather using "good coding practices", for example explaining frameworks and implementing one, in this case MVC might've been the one to use. (this is not just feedback based on my opinion, but also from others i've shared this vid with)
@RobertBrunhage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I am sure my pronunciation isn't the best, trying to improve that little by little! Regarding showing the output, I thought I did that quite a bit but will look in to showing it more 😊 I don't necessarily promote teaching a design pattern at the same time as learning the basics. From my experience that makes the topic even hard to grasp but of course I could be wrong but it's just what I've learned by teaching quite a few people. Thank you so much for bringing these points up, I will do my best to improve these in my future videos!
