Nine months ago, did you get a reply ever since. Fluval 3.0 Plant has just been released and the App can control 6 or more of these Fluval 3.0 Plant lights, simply by adding more and then change their names.
@-8_8-5 жыл бұрын
This thing is a bad ass. What I'd like to know is what people are doing with the light schedule and color preferences I have mine set to ramp up 100% over the course of 3 hours. 8 hours later, sunset starts, 3 hours later I'm at 5-0-9-0-5 (percent per color) for night time viewing for 3 hours, and then full dark for 7.5 hours. My tank is recently finished cycling. Still trying to figure out if I should further tweak the lights. What are y'all doing?
@BentleyPascoe6 жыл бұрын
I have 3 now, love them. Especially love that if I'm not running the light at full blast, I can still video tanks without a weird flicker like the old 2.0s did. App has had a couple updates since launch which is very promising for potential future upgrades in the software/controller side. Nice review Joel!
@Aquaman-wy3mg6 жыл бұрын
Just noticed that flicker on my 2.0 the other day when I was cleaning the lens. Contacted Fluval for a warranty replacement. The service was great, but they don't have any 2.0's. So they're sending me a 3.0. I don't know how to feel about it though. I like my 2.0 haven't had any issues besides that flicker I noticed. It doesn't affect the performance or anything. The 2.0 is a lot stronger I feel from what I've complied.

My experience with the two different models? You'll certainly like the 3.0 better. More useable light, has controller and WiFi built in. Plants grow better under it. Mainly cause I can dial the light temp to what I want. Remember PUR over PAR.

I love these lights and have two of the largest ones. You can set individual colours through the day. So for example, I am getting some red parrot cichlids soon so can bump up the red spectrum to emphasise the colours. If you have Frontosa, then you can increase the blue. My planted tank looks super as I can tune the colours just how I like them.

It's not that great really. I set mine to light my aquarium tank and each time a blackout happens, I have to switch it on again via the FluvalSmart App. It doesn't retain the memory to switch the light back on after a blackout. So, the tank is left in the dark all day, or until I notice the blackout and the tank light is not on when everything is back to normal. I though that after a blackout the light returns back on. But, most blackouts happen at night and in the morning the light is off. I check the App and see that it should have switched on at 7am. Instead it's off until I reset it by the App. Not that good, is it? If I go away for a couple of days and there is a blackout, the tank will be left without a light until I return home.

Hi, great vid on the light as usual for your vids and content. I have a question about it though. Does it still lose the settings after a power outage? nope, its not, it just operates through bluetooth and thats better than wifi
@-8_8-5 жыл бұрын
@@herbiknows8339 As a network tech, I'm going to go ahead and disagree. Both would have been really nice, and really surprising. Personally, I don't enjoy the reliability problems I get from Bluetooth. On literally every device. I haven't worked with a Bluetooth headset that's actually reliable for calls, for instance. Also, if I'm in another state next month and forgot to set the light back to automatic, I could log in to my home from another state. I can't do that with Bluetooth. WiFi can be problematic, but usually that's architectural and configuration. Blame the vendor who is loaning you the router, and yourself for picking a bad spot to emit from. What Bluetooth does have is less security, less range, less speed, and easier to connect. Generally speaking. I'm just concerned because it operates via a phone, and nothing else. I worry about updates. I mean, my other fixtures still work, they just need bulbs. If we lose the app, we lose control. A PC dashboard would be nice. It would make me feel more secure in the expense. It would also probably add cost for them to have both and maintain both.

@demacherius16 жыл бұрын
P0HTAT0 you dont need to replace it every half year and the light they make is imo way better. also you have to look at lumen not watt or so. I dint regret changing 8 yeras (or so ) ago
@P0HTAT06 жыл бұрын
I have to replace 4 4-foot fixtures 2 of them only using a single 54watt bulb so I would not be saving on power over those two tanks. The savings in power would be over a tank I fist set up with 2 4-foot 4 bulb fixtures that I run 2,3 or 4 bulbs in depending on what is in the tank. I also do not bother to replace a bulb until it burns out rather than follow the trend of it's lost it's spectrum I must change it! That's just a waist of money. In both my single bulb fixtures I use a 10K light that has no problem keeping my Low tech if you go by that scale tanks more than happy. If this was 4 years ago and we knew just that little more about lights the way we do now I doubt I would have any florescent in my house at all.

Are these lights dangerous for turtles eyes?
@-8_8-5 жыл бұрын
I am unsure about turtle eyes. The blues do not appear to be uv. So that's one thing an herp might consider. The other is that you have control over 5 lights: pink, blue, and three whites. With this you can control the strength of the LEDs, and timing for changes in spectrum. In my vivarium, I use the zoomed reptisun leduvb. It has LEDs for red and blue, white for viewing, and a uvb florescent tube for herps that need it. You don't get a timer, or full control over your spectrum. White and red are on together, when red it on. Blue has an independent switch, and so does the UVB.

It's a nice unit but there are false facts. One, the light housing in my Fluval Plant 3.0 is starting to come apart at one side. Two, the claimed range that the Bluetooth can connect is false. 7-8 metres is the most it can transmit/connect. Three, you can only use the mobile to connect to the Fluval 3.0 LED light with Bluetooth. There is no Wi-Fi feature so that it connects with my Network and switch the light or or off if the power cuts out (power outage), using the internal security camera to monitor the tank and then connect with the unit from anywhere. I got a call from my missus, saying that she's had a power outage and didn't know how to switch the unit back on. So I tried to connect with my mobile 24 kilometers away, only to find that there was no Wi-Fi or network app. I was disappointed. There is no Wi-Fi, only Bluetooth connectivity.

I got this light strip to cut the amount of heat I'm producing in my living room in the summer. I'm in SHOCK how little lumen out put this bar outputs, especially for the money. I just went from 4x FF54H0/T5/865. The T5 tubes output 4500 lumens each and cost around $2 per at the local electrical supply. Cost me $50 build a light cabinet with more than 4x light output. I also had 10K led strip with about another 3000 lumen output as well just for kicks. The Fluval cost $329 CAD + TAX. I'm NOT impressed at all. It leaks light all over the place what a total POS. The value in this light is total crap. None of these features are required. Light on/off is all you need. The rest is total BS. All you need is a timer. I'm going from around 21,000 lumen on my 90Gal that is 24" deep to 4500 lumen for 7x the price. Yikes.
