Got the 407 on a 75 planted works great...much quieter than the old 06 models. The sponges are great and I use poly fil as my fine filter pad.

Another great video! Just put an fx4 on my 50 gal but maybe I could have went with the 07 series either 3/4

Love my 407, Has been working well and bought a 2nd one. The one thing O noticed it seems like it purges itself like a FX. No where did I find any info that it does that. Been tilting and rocking and still does it. Spray bar free is good, I paid 20 bucks for mine when it first came out. Still checking to why it's doing what it's doing with the purging. Other than that it's a great filter. Great unboxing. Interested to see if your does the same thing, Also make sure the fingers and the latch snap into place. Thanks for sharing.

That is pretty interesting. My FX6s do that purging thing around once a day. I also had no idea that the spray bar didn’t come with it when it first came out. I guess it really is free! Lol

@@LongIslandFishGuy Yup, just the duck tail one and then maybe within the year the spray bar came out. I stumbled on it at Petsmart one day. My filters makes the purge sound seems like a million times a day. The newer one a fewer times compared to the first one. They are a power house for sure. Had not opened my first one for around 6 months to clean it. Good luck with and enjoy the Free lol bar.

I noticed that with my 407 as well. Wondered the same thing that it must be purging itself of air. Runs Amazing though. Really good Filter.

@@Sean3D2Y I talked to a few people who said theirs was doing it as well. There is no mention from Fluval if this is normal. My second one doesn't seem to do it as much, which makes me wonder if there were some bad batches our their.

Would the 307 work good on the 75 gallon tank like yours if it was a saltwater tank? I just bought that Marineland 75 gallon tank and stand at Petsmart. And was gonna buy the 307 but on the box it said it filtered upto 70 gallons. And the tank is 75 gallons. Will it still clean well if the tank is 5 gallons more then it’s specs of 70 gallons max?

I’m a complete novice when it comes to saltwater, so take my advice with a grain of… salt 😅 It really comes down to how you set up the filter and the stocking you have in the tank. You should be fine with a 307, but I usually like to over filter my tanks. Personally I would go with the 407 if that will be the only filter on your tank.

Is this filter loud or quiet?

There’s a low hum that comes from it and is relatively quiet for its power. If it’s on a soft ground it’s also much quieter.

I'm thinking of 307 or 407 for my 55 gallon. What would you recommend? All I have right now is a Fluval 30 HOB and a sponge filter. My fish stock is 15 tiger barbs, bristle nose pleco, rainbow shark, 6 cory cats, 5 giant danios and 5 cherry barbs.

What did you get? I have similar stock and was thinking about having 2 running just for backup but I'm wondering about flow.
