Hi Friends, here's my 6 month update on the Fluval Flex 123 marine tank. I think it's looking great so far! What are your opinions?

A large colorful aquarium is wonderful!

I got this tank it works awesome. My lid seems to be fine but I only run my lights at maybe 25% since they are so powerful anyways so you really don't need them that high. It reduces unwanted algae as well. Not a 100% fix but it helps. Also you can use a filter compartment as a built in refugium and it works great.

Great video! I have the same tank, what I've done to kind of upgrade it is: -Change the filters out to the Intank media basket(A bit pricy but 100% worth it) -Upgraded the return pump to sicce 1.5 - also bought the Esshops nano skimmer(works great)

the light heat is abit of a problem, so i will upgrade to a mesh lid and 2 ai primes

What filter media do you run in the baskets @xXGOOBERGAMESXx
@xXGOOBERGAMESXx3 жыл бұрын
@@justinc.667 I run filter floss on top of both baskets. Chemi pure blue, Seachem matrix and a carbon mixed with Seachem phosguard if needed

Under the spots where the sponges go is a big empty area so you can fill both of them up with a bag of media and still keep your sponges etc.

Yeah more bio would be good

Great update video, absolutely love the setup you have, so bright and vibrant, the macroalgae really does bring it to life. Keep up the great work, look forward to seeing how it matures in the next few months! 👍

It was putting me off to start with but upgrading as you go is quite good aslong as it's ok to run as it comes + the heater & salt

Why not add the intank inserts instead of the standard filter media sponges?

I didn't even know they existed! What a great idea

I have the fresh water flex and my tube is too short as well. I thought I had a duffer.

Oh maybe they thought if it dangles it won't vibrate

How much costs this tank in the US? Cause here in Chile the price is really high ( around 800 USD) si I find it expensive, considering the upsdates I will probably do.
@racingfreakk23 жыл бұрын
did you still keep the carbon and bio media in the section with the filter floss? or is it just straight filter floss in it? also did you remove the original sponge on the other side too?

Great videos of the flex 123 marine really helpful advice thank you. Please could you do a stocking guide? What we can mix what we can't if that's possible it would be great to help us newbies thanks

Christ that’s some crazy macro growth how do you get it to grow without promoting crap algae growth.
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Just like in freshwater planted tanks if you provided your "good plants" with what they need such as the correct Fertilisers, then they will outcompete the "unwanted plants" such as algae. I had bryopsis at one point but its completely died out since adding the caulerpa

Could you use the stock light for soft corals

Yes

@@EverydayAquarist thx but I am also looking at the smaller tank version and I don't know if it's the same light. Do you know if that light would grow soft corals if not do they make a saltwater 10 gallon version?
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Smaller version isn't marine light

i think you did a good job, but i watch your videos and you are good in this, i want to build myself a tank like this, although i am in the hobby for decades, i only read and investigate about saltwater and i want macroalgae dominated tank with, easy mushrooms, some softies perhaps, like a sexy refugium, do you think i can make it with this tank?
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, sexy refugium sounds great

I'm not a salty person but like what you are doing fan of fluval in general and you could persuade me down the salt trail with your informative videos go for it adapt and create your personal tank because at the end of the day one size does not fit all which why the fish keeping hobby is your personal thing for everyone

I think someone cut your pipe too short. I would just go get a spare line and cut to fit. Thanks for the video.
