I can’t believe how much of a difference this fluval uvc has made to my aquarium water clarity. My water is always clear and never had problems with green water but after installing the uvc it made my fish look in HD. The water is pristine crystal clear and it’s worth every penny. Thanks fluval

I recently added one of these to my 450-gallon African Cichlid tank. I thought my tank water looked pretty good before, but after a few days with this running I just couldn't believe the difference! In almost 40 years of keeping aquariums, I've never had water so clear. My tank now looks like there isn't any water in there, and the fish look like they are just floating in the air. I've never had one little piece of equipment make such a huge difference in a tank before. This was worth every penny and I won't be without it again.

Will there ever be an in line co2 diffuser/reactor option? Currently with the FX models there's trouble finding products that support the 1 inch tubing of the FX series. There's a void that fluval could fill with their own design.

That's great the bulb is replaceable and how long does the housing last as I've read in the past the blue light from the UVC breaks down the plastic inside eventually

Great question! The plastic in Fluval UVC Clarifiers is made with additives that protect it from breaking down from exposure to the UVC light. 👍

I haven't had a great experience with this product, so thought I'd check out the reviews and from what I have seen I seem to be one of the few people who isn't getting on with this product. I had a cheap no name brand in tank UV filter that worked brilliantly and I had no alge issues and super bright water while running it. I got the Fluval UVC inline filter as I wanted to minimise how much stuff I have in the tank so it didnt look so cluttered. I took out the cheap UV filter and added the UVC, within a couple of weeks of using the UVC my aquarium is coated in algae. I have checked the install instructional video and I have my UVC installed correctly, the UV light is on as I can see it through the clear end of the filter as per the instructions. I haven't made any other changes to my process other than removing the in tank UV filter and adding the inline UVC. Not sure what to do about this but it doesnt seem to be working as it should. Fluval any suggestions on what I can try to solve the problem? Thanks,

Had a fluval 205 since I was given my tank back in ... 1998.. Parts are easy sorced from local fish shops, now eBay, the water flow has out proformed other shop brands and my current parts are so sturdy that the outer layers of plastic is peeling with no effect to proformace. Fluval all the way for me 1998-2024 and beyond (Would love some of the previous filter media back again :sad )

I've been waiting a long time for you guys to put this out! 1 question though, is there an easy way to install it on a large tank that is currently running? Wouldn't the water pour out like a firehose?

Hi there! Yep - it's simply a matter of turning off the filter, disconnecting the output hosing assembly, raising it above the water level and draining it out. Then, the Clarifier can be installed in-line with no spills! It shouldn't take any longer than a few minutes to do. 👍

I am seriously considering buying one, maybe more... I have been told that (for filters with high flow rates) I would need a unit with a higher wattage or longer exposure to reduce ich or other parasites in the water column. Has there been any testing on this? Thank you! 👍

Hi there! The FX UVC Clarifier was designed to be perfectly compatible with the filtration series it's named after, and will therefore effectively eliminate green and cloudy water with filter circulation rates of up to 563 GPH / 2130 LPH. Parasites are generally too large to be effectively terminated by aquarium UVC lights, so we recommend other treatment methods instead!

We recommend first running the FX UVC Clarifier intermittently, while the aquarium lights are on. If the desired effects are not achieved, gradually increase the amount of time the unit runs each day until they are!

Hi there! First, please note that suckermouth catfish must have more to eat than just algae - spirulina-based dry foods and blanched vegetables like zucchini should be offered on a regular basis. With regards to the UVC Clarifier removing algae from the tank, while its primary function is to clear green and cloudy aquarium water, independent laboratory research has indicated that it can help partially inhibit the growth of algae on surfaces in the aquarium as well.

The FX UVC Clarifier should be mounted on the output of your canister filter. If mounted on the intake, particles and debris in the water may shield algae and bacteria from the UVC light. On the output side, the water is free of particles and debris, and as such algae and bacteria are eliminated with the greatest efficiency. 👍

I have the first UVC in-line clarifier on my Fluval 407 for two years now and I’m really impressed with how much clearer my aquarium water is. I’m jealous of how this new UVC for the FX series has the option of just replacing the bulb. Could you incorporate bulb replacement for the one mentioned on my 407?
