I honestly think Flux was some of the best Doctor Who I've seen. Somehow, unlike anything else the show has done, which is quite a feat after 60 years. The fact the series was made during the height of the COVID pandemic is remarkable.

First, it was unprecedented with all the effects of covid on the world. Then all the same babies crying about how terrible the episodes were. RTD and Moffat had a bunch of stinkers too! Believe me, there are some things I just can't tolerate. Like, the Tardis on an auto lift. But I guess if Unit can air lift the Tardis to their HQ maybe a lift could lift it up. Chibnall's last year was brilliant!! And the Timelesschild was perfect evolution for the saga of the Dr. Very spiritual actually. Look what what you have now with RTD and DisneyWho!! Current Doctor Who always gets some stick from fans, but as soon as it becomes part of the show's history, it gets a more balanced viewing, and it's good to see Jodie's time getting some more, well-deserved positivity (not universal, of course - that would be too much to hope for!). I loved her run and especially the relationship between The Doctor and Yaz, which was genuinely sweet and appealing but never allowed to smother the stories. In the end, I really wanted them to find some form of happiness together in some way.

Hi! As a fan of Jodie's seasons, this is really lovely to hear. The amount of hate that the 13th doctor receives is, frankly, really disheartening and upsetting. Like any other era of Doctor Who it has it's faults: rushed production time due to COVID, Chibnall having problems with tying up loose ends, and characters sometimes coming off as exposition machines, but despite all this 13 manages to be an engrossing and charming incarnation of the Doctor, with emotional depth and complex relationships with her companions. What I admire most about the Chibnall era is the amount of new and exciting concepts it brought to the show. Despite backlash from many fans, I admire the writers for having the courage to go against the grain: if Doctor Who had been unwilling to change then the show would have ended back in 1966. Jodie Whittaker, Mandip Gill, Tossin Cole, Bradley Walsh, Sacha Dhawan, and an many amazing supporting actors all gave magnificent performances throughout their 5 years. Overall, it's a brilliant example of what Doctor Who can be, and it breaks my heart that people dismissed 13 before Jodie even got to prove herself. If you have the motivation or energy I really recommend watching 13's era: season 11 is packed full of more light-hearted, fun adventures, season 12 has higher stakes and explores the relationships between the main characters, as well as introducing new concepts to the show, exploring the Doctor's past and giving Jodie some fantastic moments to showcase her abilities. The flux serial, of season 13, is a shorter season focusing on one overarching story: the universe is being destroyed, the doctor's very nature is called into question, and two villains who know the doctor very well (maybe better than she knows herself) are taking advantage of the destruction to wreck havoc.

@@fungallittlefreak1434tbh Jodie’s era probably would’ve been less hated with different writers, Chibnail’s stories weren’t that great or entertaining, at least for me, causing me to drop the show for a while ): I think with better writers that played more to Jodie’s strengths it could’ve been great. Also not a big fan of the queer-baiting at the end, the amount of romances the Doctor has had that resulted in a kiss but the first queer one gets nothing but icecream on the tardis? Horrible. I hope Jodie gets to return for some specials someday, hopefully with writers who play more to her strengths and character!

I feel yaz' ending is probably one of the most bittersweet of a companions and makes sense for who 13 is. After seeing gallifrey destroyed in spyfall it was hard for her to open up, then fugitive and being locked up, yaz missing the doc for months tied with leading to the flux there was no time, then literally meeting Time told her everything comes to a end. It's hard not to feel for 13 ❤

I remember when Flux episodes 1 and 2 came out and I really liked it, but on episode 3 onwards I began to hate it. It just started to feel like a messy Moffat script mixed with some Chibnall charm ( Chibnall charm is when characters explain what the viewers can already see onscreen ) but the season is over a year old now and I have matured quite a bit since it's finale so I might give it another chance ( If I can be bothered slogging through 6 hours of my life I might never get back )

The Flux season is so much fun. Love the Doctor having to cope with being on the back foot and the way Yaz totally steps up to the plate. Gorgeous visuals and Akinola’s amazing music. Masterful work with the Sontarans and weeping angels. Plus Mary Seacole and Eustacious Jericho and Swarm and Azure and Mad Mole… And such great cliff hangers!!

Nah, _Village_ is awful. We went from "ideas that could think for themselves [...] dreams [that] no longer needed us" to space time cops working for "CIA at home". People just like it because it has has the most basic modicum of competence in an era devoid of it. But we should aspire to be more than competent!

@@najawin8348 Good point. I do really like a lot of things about Village, but the departure from Moffat’s “dark fairytale” treatment of the Angels was unfortunate. I don’t think they should be boiled down to yet another player in galactic politics and warfare, like the Daleks or Sontarans; they should remain the mythic monsters that they were in the beginning.

They deserve credit for trying something different. A multi episode serial like the classic who days. But there was so much wrong with it. Each Cliff-hanger was pointless as whatever near death issue that they were moments away from experiencing was just gone at the start of the next episode. Making each cliff-hanger meaningless. Plus the idea that time itself is a being, a thing that exists and can be interacted with. Also somehow trapped? Also the Flux was supposed to be the end of the universe. Something that destroyed all in its path. It might have been stopped, but it was not reversed. So why is that not addressed? Surely most of our universe is dead and gone now?

I genuinely don't understand why Vinder had to be in this story, and I especially don't understand the point of Bel, and I absolutely hate The Grand Serpent. I can never unsee Mr Skullface's actual nose inside the makeup nose cavity.🙃 It would have been okay but he keeps looking down his nose at people which doesn't help hide the tip of his nose in there at all. Deepen that nasal cavity a bit and shoot him in sharper light, from different angles - the problem vanishes.💀

They're just coming to harass the fans. Like they've been doing on every video since we found out that thirteen was female. It's no comment on the quality (like they claim). Just hate. Most of them haven't even watched all of Doctor Who but still like to comment on it as a whole, as if they have. A lot of them have watched very little of Doctor Who. Some of them only even took notice of it because the Doctor was female now.

@@llt8101 Do you actually believe this? Surely there's some hatred towards the era because of misogyny, nobody can deny this. But is it really hard to admit that a significant amount of the dislike directed at the era is honestly because people just don't like the writing? Be it good or bad or whatever? It's very easy to dismiss the dislike towards the era as simple hatred. But can we not admit that there's substantial amounts of legitimate criticism as well? EG: Elizabeth Sandifer is a prominent critic of the era, Kate Orman was not particularly kind towards S12.

i truly dont understand why everyone hated the last era so much. it makes no sense to me it’s not badly written, it’s pretty much normal doctor who writing there were many changes but there have always been jodie‘s doctor changed the whole history of timelords so much whilst still fitting into the usual doctor we have known for centuries she’s an amazing actor and executed her best, same to all the others. there were were many brilliant moments throughout the entirety of the series if you don’t like it fair enough but honestly why do so many people say it was absolutely awful or that it "ruined" the whole show
