Great video showing this setup. You summarized a lot of items into a very useful video. Only real comments I have for anyone new to electronics: do be careful about enclosing electronics in a case, I doubt you'd ever see any issue with this setup he's shown here (low power consumption), but for more power-hungry setups I'd definitely suggest putting some holes in the case. Also, I've found those barrel adapters introduce a lot of resistance can get REALLY hot once you push >4A, I've not had any issues myself, but I went ahead and cut/stripped the end of the PSU 5V supply cord to just use the wires already present in the cord. If nothing else, it'll help improve the quality of your setup for longer runs.

Nice tutorial! Question, Can i connect it on my pc usb slot to power up instead of using separate power brick or power supply? please reply
@FLXtv3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can however, you’ll still need to find a way to take the 5v from that USB and run that directly to the +/- as well as have it going to the ESP module. Remember, the ESP module doesn’t supply power to the LEDs. It only supplies the data (green wire) to the LED strip. The power supply supply’s 5v to the ESP module but also needs to supply the power to LEDs. Also if you’re running only off of the 5v from your PC. You won’t be able to make very long strips or have a high pixel density strip.

I'm going to be using this setup behind my 65" TV, under my bed and behind my 3d printing station. I'm already testing everything out to make sure the components work. Already found out I have a DOA ESP32. The question I have is instead of cutting the LED strips, could I just set WLED to only use a portion of the strip? Say, maybe 200 instead of the full 300? I mean, if the LEDs are not on, they are pulling nearly zero power. I'm just asking because if I might want to use the strips at a later date for something else. I got a few 15A 5v power supplies to use with the for-mentioned installations, but couldn't I just set WLED to power 200 of the 300 LEDs safely for now, then later on use a more powerful power solution and use the full strip?

@@manikandanhari7778 you can connect directly with the nodemcu via its own built in WIFI (not sure if this is the case over BT). WLED will make a wifi network named WLED-AP that you can connect with to control the strip without it being connected to a home wifi router.
@MrAmiller8163 жыл бұрын
To clarify - its the same progress as connecting it to your home network.. except you don't do that step. Just connect to the WLED-AP network. Once connected it should by default open a WEB GUI or if you have the app on your device you can open that and see the node in the devices list. the Devices will by default say 'WLED' and have an ip address underneath. '4.3.2.1' - just tap on that and you're up and running.
